I don't have to be poor to know the ROI and cost of ownership on the foldable phones is pretty low for the former, and pretty high for the latter. Simple math.
A phone which unfolds to had a double width/height screen seems pretty great to me; unless all you do is watch videos on it that is. Cost of ownership is no different from a phone and cellular iPad Mini when both are upgraded to 512GB. But if all you do is use a base phone and base iPad then the iPhonebook will be more expense.

Will be disappointing if it lacks a telephoto lens especially if/when it is going to be costlier than Z Fold. Want at least 3x zoom. Looking forward to seeing the first foldable from Apple. Have been waiting a long time.

It's rather interesting how Apple decided on the size of the exterior and exterior displays.

After several months enjoying my highly useful Z Fold7, it's hard to imagine using a smaller size like iPhone Fold, or whatever they call it.

I was looking forward to the folding iPhone prior to learning of its size. Clearly too small to accommodate my workflow I will continue to wait and see what version 2.0 of iPhone Fold has to offer.

One lesson the Z Fold7 has taught me is just how valuable and useful a folding phone is for my mobile work environment. In fact once Samsung offers insurance for the TriFold model, I'm a buyer.

While I really want a new form factor I don’t think I can go back to touchID. I get it, you’d need 2 faceID modules one for front and one for inner screen so it makes total sense but for how often I use faceID it would be so annoying to go backwards and make the phone feel less of a step forward as a step sideways
The lack of touch I.D on the iPhone 16e is one of the reasons why I decided to stay with Android, plus the price was a bit high.
I just hope this foldable is more reliable than the one I have seen from other manufactures.

Touch ID was fine when the iPhone had the front home button, but it’s just awkward to use in the start button on iPads now. It’s the main reason I have an iPad Pro, which is way overkill for my needs. I found the cheaper models with Touch ID to be so irritating I stopped using them all together, including the iPad Mini. I’ll trade a camera gladly for FaceID.

Also, please Apple, call it the “PhoneBook” 🙏🏻

Yep. Ive been hoping for iPhonebook for a while now.

I still find it unlikely their most premium product is gonna go backwards and have Touch ID. i could see it having both, a sort of Face ID for unlocking but Touch ID for actual authentication similar to Samsung.

I think Face ID for outer screen and Touch ID for inner screen/s

I seriously doubt they would ditch Face ID on their flagship device when they’ve been using it for over eight years.
I think eventually it will go away. Don't know how, when, or why, but I think it will eventually die off.
Just say you’re poor.
I'm poor.
Yeah same, I don't need my phone to act like it don't know me every morning and remind me my face is puffy when I wake up.
Siri called to remind you that your face is puffy when you wake up.
Yep. Ive been hoping for iPhonebook for a while now.
iPhoneBookJr could come out, and we could call it the iPBJ!

As for myself, I'm actually looking forward to seeing the iPF. I'll play with it in the Apple Store. The last thing I'll do is just pooh-pooh any and all new ideas coming out of Apple. Doing so would make me more likely to pass up on important solutions, and that would be an "L" for me long term.

Can’t wait for this to have an iPhone that does more and makes use of the size.

Will no doubt buy pro max too though but this will have my main sim in it

Apple is expected to launch a new foldable iPhone this year, based on multiple rumors and credible sources. The long-awaited device has been rumored for years now, but signs increasingly suggest that Apple will release its first foldable device in 2026.

Below, we've collated an updated set of key details that have been leaked about Apple's foldable iPhone so far. Apple will allegedly call the device the "‌iPhone‌ Fold," which is the name the media has already adopted when sharing rumors about the product.

Overall Design
Book-Style
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's foldable iPhone is similar in style to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold, which uses a book-style folding mechanism, rather than the clamshell design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the foldable ‌iPhone‌ to measure between 9 and 9.5 mm when folded, and around 4.5 to 4.8 mm when unfolded. More recently, Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital has said that the foldable iPhone will have a thickness of at least 4.8mm. The leaker has also claimed that the volume buttons will be located on the top edge of the device, aligned to the right, similar to the iPad mini, while the power button and Camera Control continue to be located on the right edge of the device, just like other recent iPhones. The back left of the device is also said to feature an ‌iPhone‌ Air-style camera plateau.

Display
Dual Screens
When folded, users will interact with a 5.5-inch outer display that is similar to a typical iPhone screen, while unfolding it will reveal a larger 7.8-inch iPad-style screen. These dimensions have been corroborated by two reputable sources. However, a more recent report by The Information claims that the device will have a 5.3-inch front screen and a 7.7-inch inner display. According to one rumor, the inner folding display will be approximately the size of a piece of A6 paper and will use a 2,713 x 1,920 resolution, while the outer display will use a 2,088 x 1,422 resolution. Apple is reportedly evaluating a tougher display film technology for its foldable, with the use of a transparent polyimide film as a protective layer that would sit on top of the ultra-thin glass.

Crease Visibility
'Crease-Free'
The inner display is said to be virtually crease-free, thanks to Apple's use of a metal plate that can disperse and control the stress generated by bending the display, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple is said to be using liquid metal in the hinges to improve durability and help eliminate screen creasing. Liquid metal, manufactured using a die-casting process, has been chosen by Apple to address this common issue with foldable devices, according to the analyst. Citing supply chain sources, Chinese site UDN says that Apple has solved "the crease problem" that has plagued most foldable smartphones, and the foldable ‌iPhone‌ will be the first crease-free foldable smartphone on the market.

Chassis and Hinge
Durable Materials
The foldable iPhone reportedly has a titanium chassis, with the hinge constructed from a combination of titanium and stainless steel, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The frame itself will use a titanium alloy to prevent bending issues – a solution that has worked well for Apple's new ultra-thin iPhone Air. However, analyst Jeff Pu believes that Apple is using aluminum and titanium, whereas Kuo believes a mix of stainless steel and titanium has been chosen.

Cameras
Front and Rear
The foldable iPhone is expected to include a dual-lens rear camera, with a front-facing camera for both folded and unfolded states, according to Kuo. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently corroborated reports that the device will have four cameras consisting of one front camera, one inner camera, and two rear cameras. Prolific Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station claims that the rear dual lenses will be... Click here to read rest of article

Somehow I see this device pushed into 2027. Every time Apple tries a big swing tecehnology advance they come up short of expectations. The new Siri with ( military) intelligence, multi device charging pad, anyone? Apple Maps V1, the Apple car. How about you delay your fold and resolve to fire the idiot who came up with the text box thingy that now pops up whenever you need to type something, whilst simultaneously blocking the very sentence I’m trying to add on to thus triggering an AI “helper” bot that is asking if I want to do something else!

Unlike your examples, Apple hasn’t said anything about the iPhonebook being a thing, let alone a 2026 thing. So a 2027 release doesn’t mean Apple missed a deadline, it just means the rumor mill was wrong about it…again.

Why do you need examples? Apple has been working on the MO for years. aHeck we just passed another drop dead date for the Siri AI release.

The only person you should be mad at for Apple not releasing a folding phone yet is yourself for believing the rumors as fact
