I think you did the math wrong on the fold size. If just using your pic.I do realize the original article describes an "iPad-like-layout" without giving some sort of dimension. But let's just go for the mentioned iPad mini size right now?

So halving this in a clamshell calculation of final phone size: 97.7 x 67.4 mm. My 13 Mini is: 131.5 x 64.2 mm, for me to relate to.
It sound like this will be quite small and over squared in comparison. I realise I'm reading much to much into the dimensions based purely on the statement of comparison to an iPad Mini and we're also entirely leaving the thickness out of the equation.
Thoughts?
iPhone Fold 2. 2027 here we come. This I’m not interested until it has it then I’m all in
While having two apps opened split-screen on a normal phone sounds great on a paper, on execution... not so much. It just feels way too restrictive and awkward to use, especially in data-rich apps. That is a feature that I tried so hard to like on Android, but it was just too frustrating to use and then I just never bothered with it anymore. Split-screen makes a lot more sense on displays with actual screen real estate like tablets and foldables.
Having a pretty stupid virtual assistant on your phone definitely isn't a feature.
It's amazing how people still don't get it.
I guess people that don't find these features useful aren't important enough at their job to utilize these features. If that's the case, that sounds like a you problem and not a problem with AI, or the phone, or Apple, or Google. The whole point of a smart phone is to have smart, useful features that continue to advance. You should probably buy a TCL flip phone if it's too much for you.
Apple has returned from the 90s and re-opened the door to consumer confusion. Assuming all rumors are true, there are going to be too many products with too much crossover leaving consumers disoriented.
Everything they're doing is exactly why they had to bring Jobs back to fix the company. However, in that case, the company was on the verge of failure and today's Apple is in a very different position.
I don't know how to run a trillion dollar company but I know I don't like technology that takes too much time to learn and configure to suit my lifestyle. These are supposed to be portable devices that get out of the way and make living our lives easier and more pleasant. "It Just Works" is what drew me to Apple in the first place. The amount of time I have to spend disabling features and hunting for settings makes it feel like I live in a world where Windows has taken over.
There are already too many products to choose from. Now they're going to squeeze another category between two existing hot sellers. What problem are they solving?
Where does this fit between: iPad Pro 13", iPad Pro 11", iPad Air 13", iPad Air 11", iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone Pro Max, iPhone Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone, iPhone e? (That's 11)
It's too much to add something new.
It should be: iPad Pro 13", iPad 11", iPad Air 9.5", iPhone Pro 7", iPhone 6.5", iPhone Air 6". Then, maybe it could make sense to slip an iPhone Fold in the 8" slot. I still think 7 is too much - but it's better.
It’s not exactly the same, but on iOS you can add apps to the control panel to open them with a swipe down. For the love of God, please add a quick panel to iOS already 😭 one of the amazing things on Android that Apple needs to copy, especially for a foldable.
This is what I talking about btw:

Quick Swipe from the right from anywhere and you can quickly open an favorited or most used app without always going back to the home screen or interrupting what you are doing.
Floating app bubbles would also be nice, especially for messaging apps:
One can dream or like in my case, use both OS 😅

Split screen (horizontal or vertical) with two small square apps (and keyboard covering much of it) wouldn't be a great UX, and developers would probably be annoyed too. Something like Slide Over would be better. That’s a feature I’ve been waiting for for some time.
Still on the Pro Max size I don’t see why some form of split screen isn’t already a thing during landscape mode. Apparently we need a folding phone before Apple considers letting two apps exist at the same time.
I hate that this will *most likely* be a feature exclusive to the iPhone Fold, yet there’s absolutely zero reason the Pro and Pro Max can’t do this too.
They will have to announce this at wwdc or earlier right?Nobody is questioning how apple could release this new form factor without giving developers time to adapt? I know the fluid grid system is supposed to adapt to any screen dimensions, but developers, especially game devs, need time to test and adjust.
”No AI” is a feature really. I don’t want, need or use AI on my phone. Same goes for Siri. ☺️2000$ for a phone with no AI at all and some stupid uneducated Siri in 2026 LOL 🤣
It sounds like it's going to be an iphone on the outside and in ipad on the inside. So it's basically an iPad chopped in half.
Unfortunately, the iPhone pro and pro max don’t make you buy twice. And so…I hate that this will *most likely* be a feature exclusive to the iPhone Fold, yet there’s absolutely zero reason the Pro and Pro Max can’t do this too.
You do know it will likely being running Google Gemini.2000$ for a phone with no AI at all and some stupid uneducated Siri in 2026 LOL 🤣
