You can also adjust how see through the pop up is but I never use it. Gimmick

Danke for the screenshots. I think this floating function is clever and would much like it in iOS — including the transparency control 😊.

The only real downside to the newest iPad Mini is the touchID in the power button. I find it annoying to have to move my hands up to it. I could not stomach it constantly on my phone. At least in the old days of TouchID it was down at the bottom on the button I was constantly using.

Take an iPad mini. Remove the hefty bezel and fold it in half add a second screen and camera, and bingo you have the new device. The mini does everything. It runs Logic and Final Cut. It has a phone. The foldable should be based on iPadOS.

This is why I think the iPhone "Fold" will likely run a special version of iPad OS, not iOS.
