but US is so big in area (size) so it is tough to provide a good service, also here people complain about electric towers, antenna, cell towers and everything ...
I will reiterate that Sweden has approximately the same population density as the United States of America.

It is understandable why densely populated countries like South Korea or Japan have better cellular service, but that doesn't explain most of Western Europe.

Also, it doesn't explain why dense metro areas like SF or NYC have so many cellular issues whereas major Asian and European cities are solid.

Yes, there are some problems with NIMBYs not wanting cellular towers. People who complain about cellular towers shouldn't be allowed to own cellphones. If you want good cellular service, quit griping about towers. The rest of the world has.

The guy from Mac hardware engineering took over his job? This means even less time will be devoted to Mac :(.
They just updated a bunch of Macs.

Besides, the iDevices have better gross margins. Plus, the portable device is the future. Steve has specifically said that computers aren't going away, but more people will be able to get things done with these portable devices. His truck analogy is correct.

Fifty years ago, a pickup truck was very helpful if you were running a farm. Today, most people can get by with a small sedan or even using a rental service like ZipCars. Need a pickup? Just rent one for the day.

I know that since the App Store went online, I use my Mac far less. Yes, it's still better for some things than my iPod touch, but general purpose computing is far less of a need by Joe Consumer in 2010. Computer use is dropping as a total percentage of technology use by consumers. Apple's change in focus reflects that of the consumers.

Apple's shareholders expect the company to follow the growth.

What happens is Canada is not important. Canada is just a US suburb. There always an everyone else. Whether you acknowledge that is not relevant. So what the iPhone is selling out. Does not negate that some are having an issue.

Please don't ever compare Canadians to Americans again. Just because we share a boarder doesn't make us the same.

At the same time, the iPhone 4 does drop signal, so does my 3GS, my older 3G, my friends X10, my other friends 9700... The dropped bars haven't affected any of the iPhone customers I have sold phones to enough that they want to return them.

I assumed that he would occupy both positions, and there isn't any evidence to suggest otherwise.
You must think that both positions are relatively easy.

Do you have any evidence that Apple is a particularly easy company to work at and that employees are largely underutilized? Please refer to Apple's revenue and their current headcount.

Thank you.

I could care less about what tech blogs and trolls say about the iP4's antenna. I want to see customer satisfaction surveys and return rates to see If iP4 customers (you know the people who actually purchased the product and use it) actually have a problem. I want to see sales figures to see if customers are truly pissed about the antenna. All I hear is antenna this and antenna that but the iP4 keeps on selling as soon as stock is available and people can't wait to get one. If these stats/surveys indicate any type of large negative feedback then we can say the IP4 has a legitimate problem. If my iP4 (when I get it) drops calls like nobodies business when the death grip is applied I still can't say Apple should do some type of recall if the mass majority does not have a problem.

Just some numbers for you guys to look at to see what company is REALLY in control.

Thanks for letting us know that Apple's market cap is $78 billion more than Google's. I'm also pretty sure they have a larger cash reserve than Google.

That is exactly why I think that the Mac will get shoved to the back burner.

There's your problem! Should have hired Mark Antennamaster instead.

No, it's not. If anything my iPad just shows me how useless it really is. It's a toy, not even nice for sending emails. If I wasn't making games for it, I would sell it.

PC sales are at an all time high right now folks. You NEED a certain form factor to actually DO things. Steve Jobs isn't an all knowing shaman. He has been wrong very often in the past, but with the RDF in full effect, people just don't remember this.

For the record, Steve Jobs thought his NeXT computer was going to mean the elimination of teachers in the learning process. Yes, he honestly thought this. Not always so brilliant now, is he?

OK Canadians - let me give a response from an American.

The comment / attitude contained in sinsin07 are really not worth further comment - they are troll like - don't waste the time feeding that persons ego.

IPhone selling ou so what.

Android phones, multiple models, are also selling out. Android is now outselling iPhone 2 almost 3 to 1. That's the evidence that antennagate is hurting Apple.

Any design change (especially if it occurs on the white Iphone 4) will be taken as admission of a defect - and the lawsuits will be launched.

If there is "no problem", then why does it need a redesign?

Design is a continuum, cutting edge more so, but production is a step function. Every now and then, you have to ship. Apple made design decisions that affect the call drop rate of at most a few percent of users, while improving reception for the majority of iPhone 4 users. This after what would be after what would be in my opinion, and based on the evidence provided, a substantial test routine.

I'd say Apple did pretty will, especially considering that anecdotal evidence is that there has been little note of the issue other than in the U.S, which would mean AT&T. No surprise there.

For the record, antennas will be designed into iPhone frames from here on out, and future competitor designs will use the frame as well, Apple's bump in the road not withstanding.

I think you meant 'border'.

Anyway, I'm tired of the high taxes, price gouging by business, poor road infrastructure, poor cell service, and media licensing consistently making Canada 'late to the party'. Get me out. I'll certainly pay more for faster and better healthcare, interstate highways, true business competition, cheap liquor, and damn decent hockey teams.

I like this move. Sends a clear message to the troops both high and low.

cheers to the longs

What, you either bend over and take it up the **** from Job's or leave?

Dictatorships always come unstuck in the end. Thankfully, this one is getting closer to the end. The masses will soon realise how restrictive Steve's "controlled environment" is.

His coming back was good to get Apple going in the right direction. It's time he stepped aside.

Can you give me the sales data on individual Android phones?

"2 almost 3 to 1" Helps when you have multiple phones on multiple carriers in the US. It would be an embarrassment if Android based phones were not outselling the iPhone. Not really shocking.

Antenna problems are hurting Apple yet the iP4 keeps on selling out. How does that add up?

This is not related to the iPhone antenna problem because there is NO antenna problem! Do you have an iPhone 4? I do! No problems whatsoever!!!
+1

I think it's an imaginary problem - that only exists in the US(?). I even tried to recreate it several times but couldn't get the bars to drop.

I think it's funny that death grip is or will soon become a household expression.

so you are comparing the sales numbers of a free open source OS (Android) that is running on numerous phones to 1 particular phone (iPhone)

wow... i'm not even sure how to respond to that without insulting you

i like iOS but with android running on basically every other iPhone-competing smartphone out there its actually pretty pathetic its only outselling 3 to 1
