Same story for me. Ever since I scratched my original iPhone in 2007, all my sub-sequential iPhones were never removed from their cases. Same with my Galaxy S II right now.

I had a 2G and a 3G and those things seemed to collect tiny scratches and scuffs, which I could handle. With the IP4, every scratch that showed up on it was a deep gash, which I couldn't handle.

It's not about whether I could handle it, it's about the resale value.

Every scratch on an iOS device depreciates its eBay value by at least $50.

That is not true at all. I just helped my buddy sell his iPhone 4 (It was scratched up as hell) for $550.

The back needed to be replaced and the front screen had about 3 decently big scratches.

Ah, I see were back to the Apple sucks because they made it out of glass and thin aluminum. Maybe you should take care of your stuff, its a phone not a baseball. Same with the laptops, you spend $1000+ on it...stop banging it off of everything and it wont get dented. Not Apples fault your a moron and break it, have some responsibility for your own actions.

Guess car manufacturers should remove glass because a rock flying at 70mph can crack it?

Love how the OP starts acting up and calling everyone a fanboy that doesnt agree that this Galaxy android phone is the bestest:D
I dont feel like arguing with 16 year olds so you win dude.
Go for it and buy it when its out and find another forum instead of the Macrumors iphone section.
Peace.

I agree. Bunch of trash troll posts about how the galaxy s is better than the iPhone is cluttering up the forum. Mods take notice and move these threads to the wasteland please :)

On howardforums, I just saw the Netflix announcement that the mobile version is going to finally be available for certain Android phones. Guess what? Galaxy S2 wasn't anywhere on that list.
If you can't give me netflix on the go, you're not even a contender.

If you noticed it is currently only HTC devices that are set up that way. It is safe to say that others will quickly be added to that list. I have a feeling G2S will be one of them. It just takes some time.

I see Android is really starting to become a mature OS and now people are starting to pick what they want. I for example do not like a lot of things in iOS and sure as hell do not want iOS for my phone. Great for an iPod and nothing Android has I have seen comes close to the music player on iOS but for a phone part of it sorry iOS kind of sucks there. No real notifications system. Multitasking well is a wanna be at best.
I like on Android you can choose your web browser or SMS app if you do not like the stock on. I know on my phone I did not like the stock SMS system and so I dumped it and am running GoSMS Pro (free no ads) and really like its set up and options and it has some nice bonus eye candy as well.
Plus information at a glance (widgets) in Android is really nice along with the pull down notification system.

You may be on to something. Let's stop using glass for cups, dishes, windows, light bulbs etc since it "breaks when dropped".....or.....you could just not drop stuff or put a case on things you tend to drop all the time.

I dont know, ive never dropped a window and a light bulb is .89 cents and a glass or a mug is $1.99 to $4.99 that i may have to replace every 5 years because i dont put them in my pocket and carry it around everywhere i go.

Is this really your arguement?

Until the iPhone 5 comes out with the same specs, then it is a celebration ;)

When will people understand that the iPhone really doesn't need the best specs to function so smoothly? PLEASE, please don't drag me into the whole what phone is better argument. I love and own a bunch of devices running both. I just have to point out that Android requires a bit more to run as smoothly compared to iOS. Look at OS X and Windows 7. The minimum requirements for RAM are half of those on OS X vs. Win. 7. As of now though I wouldn't compare Android to 7. It's more like Vista, a hot mess that's halfway there.

Multitasking well is a wanna be at best.

Do you know the difference between iOS' multitasking implementation and Androids? The only difference is that Android doesn't have specific API's (unlike iOS) for applications to use for multitasking. However, like on iOS, for an application to continue running in the background on Android it has to be explicitly coded to do so. Everything beyond providing specific API's on iOS is identical, as far as I understand.

In the UK at least, this phone is minimum 30% cheaper TCO compared to IP4 over the same time frame.

THATS the point it becomes interesting IMO

Nothing special. I've owned the Galaxy S, the Galaxy S 4G, myTouch 4G (great build quality btw), and G2X - I even had the google g1 when it first came out. There is zero comparison between Android and iOS when it comes to getting things done. On top of that, Apple build a SYSTEM - you can use each device alone, or you can use everything from desktop, laptops, tablets, cellphones, mp3 players that makes your life easier by running on a similar platform.

Don't even go into build quality - I'm sorry but if I'm paying for a $500-$800 phone - which is what they're really worth and what you're signing into the contract to get discounts on - then I want it to FEEL and behave like the half a grand piece of electronics that it is.

The Galaxy S2 does actually look like a good phone! This is great news. I love competition!

Competition is great, it gives Apple a kick up their backside. I have had iPhone 3GS and now 4, but competitors are now moving forward far faster than before. Let's see what Apple has in store for future.

this thing looks like a chinese bootleg of the nexus s. My friend has one, and it already feels like a toy. I wont talk about android, because i just dont like it at all. All i'll say is that its the new windwos mobile. They keep throwing UBER hardware on it, and it still runs like crap and has horrible battery life.

So...As a phone, samsungs generally dont get the best reception. My friend mentioned he gets worse reception with his nexus s then with his regular dumb phone he upgraded from.
Crappy speaker phone, among other things.

Also, updates that will come around "whenever the hell they feel like it" timeframe.

I wish this phone ran WebOS :(

You do realise, despite this being an Apple centric forum, and you voicing your own opinion, there's a user here who will rush here to label you a "fanboy", despite the guy not realising he's the biggest one here.

Case in point with regard to the thread/poll started elsewhere.

And for the record, I did notice lag in certain animations at one point on the SII video, but again I'll be told I need my "fanboy eyes" tested. Debate is impossible with Android fans who should, in all honesty, realise they're as bad as the people they hit out at.

Making mountains out of mole hills... Is that what people do when they have nothing going on in their lives?

Hey, don't be besmirching the names of Chinese bootleggers! It's a Korean bootleg!;)
