I dropped my earpods in a bowl of boiling water (really boiling water).i plugged them into my ipod and they worked but the bass is gone....what can I do guys help!!!

Just trolling but what's the difference between 'boiling water' and 'really boiling water'?
I assume you mean it wasn't you exaggerating, it was actually boiling?

Hey everyone, I searched the forum for this but couldn't find a water story related to headphones, not the iPhone. My wife was doing the laundry and forgot the check one set of pockets, and this set had my iPhones's headphones in it. Now, this is entirely my fault since I forgot them in that pocket to begin with. That being said, they went through the wash. I have them sitting in a bag of rice to see if that helps, but I don't know much about how water affects headphones. Anyone else had this happen? I'll post more info when they dry out.

Go exchange them at the apple store. They've replaced several pairs of mine. And don't feel bad about doing it, they cost them 50 cents to make and apple just had a huge earnings report.

If that's an iphone 5's headphone which is what I just did after laundry. The outcome is one side not work quite as loud and the remote volume control stop working. What I did is just blow from the front of ear piece to force water out and hair dryer for the remote. Work like a treat. Save £25.

Water ruins electronics by shorting the electrical connections.

There was no power running through your headphones. As long as you let them dry completely they should be fine.

I feel like this post should be sticky'd; so many people are unaware of the fact that water only poses a threat to electronics with current running through their circuitry.

My sister has had her head phones go in the wash. They will be fine. But I'm sure OP knows by now because this thread is 5 years old.

Did exactly the same to mine a few weeks ago....tried them to see if they worked and one side was a bit louder than the other so left them on the side to dry and see what happened. Wasnt overly concerned as we had another pair knocking about i could use if need be. Anyhows tried them a couple of days later and worked no issue and the bonus of them being far cleaner than they were!! :D

I think first of all you have to dried it and after this try to play i m sure it will definitely work. all the best

This accualy just happened to me last week. I could not find my apple EarPods any where. I looked everywhere! Then 5 days later they fell put of the drier and worked fine.

----------

My headphones went through the wash twice. Made them shiny AND they still worked :).

It made mine smell good :D

[doublepost=1466034121][/doublepost]Hey there,
Mine went through washing machine then on to dryer, and then there it was snow white, still warm, OH ****!!!
Sheer anxiety and a moment of Hollywood thriller on my mind, Worked perfect, all the buttons worked just fine. Listening to "You can't always get what you want" right now.
Apple rocks.

[doublepost=1473184273][/doublepost]Yes I went through the same situation but in my case I didnot realize until the headphones was dried on the drier. So my suggestions before you plug back in put the headphones in a pocket of a cotton pant and put them in drier.

My earbuds went through the washer and drier and still work perfectly fine with just a minor rip in the material

Pure water doesn't. Now find some pure water to dunk your earpods in.

I don't know about the iPhone headphones, but my iPod headphones went thru the wash a couple weeks ago. I let them dry overnight, and they worked just fine the next day.
[doublepost=1504750750][/doublepost]I don't think water has to do anything with the pause and Siri button i think the buttons inside got fried or something

I actually left them in my pocket and they went through machine wash and dryer and I thought they were done for good. I noticed that part of the wire misshaped but the volume actually raised. I have no idea of how this is possible but I really wanted to share with everyone.
