$499 and $599 USD - expensive, but again, look at what you're getting. I'll have to think about it, but man, that's one sweet device...

5 hours battery life...no thanks. Thats not bad for what the phone does. But at the end of the day, I will want it to do what a mobile phone does do, and that is call and text when I'm out and about, I can't plan my day around charging this thing every 5 hours!

5hr talk time?

Thats a really badass phone but....$500/600 US with a 2 year contract? Im not even in the US :( and I am on a PCS network so i won't be able to use it as a phone? *sighh* oh well.... back to waiting for a widescreen touch iPod...

waiting for what? this is it... its a 3 in one unit

No it isnt. I want a 60GB+ WS-touch ipod. 8GB is all well and good for a phone but not for an MP3 player anymore. Besides I can't use the phone part so this won't be of a huge use to me. And you need a contract or else it is gonna be $700+ US which goes to $850-900 canadian which is WAY more than a music/video iPod

Hard drive's WAY too small, the phone should be unlocked, the battery life is pretty pathetic for real world needs. Nice idea though.

Im not impressed with the iPhone. As a PDA user and a Windows Mobile user, this thing has nothing on my phone. It sure is good at what it was designed for, a phone that entertains and talks... other than that, i dont see much potential. How the hell am I suppose to put appointments on the phone with no stylus or keyboard?! I can sync it with my computer, but when Im on the go, I cant do either!

No thanks Apple. Make a real PDA please....

EDIT: well apparently now there is an onscreen keyboard... nevermind then....

Im still in the mix on this one. My phone can still do so much more...

yeah... i agree.
iPhone is about 3 times the size it should be in my opnion.

maybe they should call that iPhone Pro
and make a basic smaller iPhone with out all that frilly stuff.

Complaints:

1) June! Agh!
2) I was hoping for 8gb and 16gb rather than 4 and 8.

Happy:

1) Pretty much everything else. 5 hours of talk time already blows my Razr out of the water.

but remember they might release this one... then a year later release a "remastered version" with longer battery life triple the HD and other little upgrades they had from the start to make hardcore apple lovers buy it again.

Yeah, for everything this device does, that does seem a bit on the small side, but they're no doubt limited by the technology available and what is feasible for ths type of device. Larger capacities will come.

hang on a minute...

so iPhone, first of all, didnt we all tink it wouldnt be called that? because of that stupid company selling some piece of crap web phone or whatever (Cisco?) , secondly, wheres the fricken camera on the apple phone?? even a 25quid piece of crap tesco mobile has a camera in it. third, how the HELL are you supposed to text message? i have MAN hands, ie: they are huge. i cannot imagine touch-typing a billion word text to my friends about a party/last nights events/weekend plans on a teeny little keyboard. AARRGHGHGHGHGHGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

oh yeah, apple tv looks cool tho.

and also, the apple phone is EXPENSIVE! like, wayyyy expensive.

I have to say, I am completely unimpressed by either of the products that were presented today...

I like to just talk on my phone and that is it...

The iPhone does sound really cool. Maybe I'll buy one after in a generation or two once the price comes down and they make one that has real memory, equivalent to an ipod video. Either that or buy a full-video ipod when they actually make one.

its a 3 in one unit but its not the hard drive ipod which the op is talking about. The iphone only has 4 and 8gb models, the ipod has 30gb and 80gb, probably 40gb and 100gb this time around.

iPhone plays video?? HAHAHA!

Ok, I REALLY like the phone and interface. Really slick. BUt Steve, DONT try and pass this of as a widescreen iPod. Yes it is a widescreen and yes it plays music, but the 4 gb model wont hold a lot of video. Nice, but not close enough.

Anyone else think this iPhone multi-touch is a lead-in to a REAL widescreen iPod?
