You sir are dillusional. I've literally never heard one person complain about iTunes, it is what it is and always has been. Btw the most expensive iphone 6 is $849 and that's the 128 gb version, so I'm not sure what your taking about $950..?.?

I still think the majority of users aren't experiencing issues... I could be wrong about that, BUT when you spend lots of time on this forum it seems like things are way worse than they are. However, if you are considering Android I would recommend the Note 4 or wait for the Galaxy S6. (Or Nexus 6/X)

I recommend Sony Z3compact!!!. Goddamn that is a phone!. ONE WEEK BATTERY LIFE, 20 megapixel camera, glass back, and waterproof. Apple should just buy that phone from Sony and load iOS onto it.

Apple should have bought Sony instead of Beats already years ago, but the business is a mess.

I don't think you can relate this to BlackBerry at all. What killed BlackBerry was a lack of strategy to respond to a changing paradigm in the smartphone industry. Fundamentals in how we interacted with our mobile devices such as keyboards, touchscreens, third-party development, and app ecosystems as a whole were what made iOS and Android supremely popular. BlackBerry was simply too late to the game.

What you're talking about are what are relatively small bugs that can easily be fixed, and most importantly do not affect a large number of users. Yes, I feel for you when you say you're having a bad personal experience with your new phone, and yes, it's reasonable for you to expect such problems from an established company like Apple. But iTunes is a great platform both for organizing music and the contents of your iPhone. I don't see how Apple could've let 8.0.1 slip through the cracks, but it only affected around 40,000 users out of around 10 million iPhone 6 owners, and Apple responded very quickly (pulled update in an hour and came out with 8.0.2 the next day).

We've gotten to a point as consumers where we expect everything to work, and right this instant. We have to remember that companies are only run by humans, and their products were made by humans.

Right now the guys main moan is iTunes sucks and I agree.

I cannot fill the 128gb I bought for $$$ with my music without iTunes telling me no.

It's pathetic.

After tax the Verizon 6 128gb was $925.

It's one week battery life if you use a special power save mode. Otherwise it seems comparable to a 6plus in ordinary use. It's got a glass construction much like that of the 4 and 4s. It's an interesting phone. But they plan to go with a six month upgrade release cycle? Did I read that correctly? Sony takes some really clever ideas and then tends to let them slowly die while sticking with ideas and gimmicks that only a few hardcore enthusiasts end up embracing and running them into the ground. Fascinating company. I've moved away from their products over the past 15 years because their support is spotty.

Aren't you getting confused with OSX on Vaio?

Yes you're right. Nevertheless SJ wanted to have Apple software on Sony hardware. iOS on Z3 hardware would be SO NICE.

The OP is confused. The right analogy is that BlackBerry is the new Apple. 1997 is over.

wut... wut?

I agree their management is a bunch of bozos. But their consumer electronic hardware engineers are probably the best on the planet, hindered by management.. and marketing, as usual.

Thanks God they didn't do it. Vaios are horrible pieces of plastic. My girlfriend has one, 17" model. The internals are kinda nice, but just touching it makes me sad. Apple laptops are from another planet compared to that stuff

I admit to being a silent participant who uses this forum frequently, basically because the people on this site are more tech savvy than me. I had a BB back when they were new, and trust me, they were a Godsend. I never experienced any glitches, maybe because my employer provided them and maintained them including the servers. They were perfect for email, which is what business was doing then, and if you used them long enough, you could type faster on a BB than you could on a keyboard. But that was then.

I eventually became an Apple disciple for everything - phones, laptops, and iPads. They are all great products, and best of all, unlike Android and Windows, they just plain work.

I will admit some disappointment with the iPhone 6. To me, it lacks the quality feel that I came to expect from Apple. I don't like the camera protruding from the back. It looks like an after thought. I feel that Apple would have been better to make a slightly fatter phone with a flush camera, and a bigger battery for longer life. It would also probably have had a more solid feel that goes along with a little more weight.

That said, I am sure I will be upgrading from my 5 to a 6 as soon as I can get to the Apple store. It may not be quite what I was hoping for, but it will still work great.

Depends on which model. The high-end Japanese-made models like the Z, T, and X were made of carbon fiber. I have been using a VGN-Z since 2008 (assembled in U.S.A. with Japanese components, as per CTO VAIOs) and it's still going strong. But the cheaper models are in fact dreadful when it comes to build quality.

LOL...

As much as like Apple I do criticize them for some silly decisions.

This 8.0.1 is not a big deal. It could be eventually if it continues like this for a long time. The bendgate is hype with no substance. I mean if there was real problem I would agree but this is all hype. You know media...

Regarding the Blackberry and Apple comparison...they are not even close. Blackberry had their eyes closed when other companies were coming up with these amazing big screen touch screen phones. Blackberry stuck to their silly not common people friendly phones and did not change with time..

Apple has already adopted big screen and I very sure they will make the UI even better over the period.

Apple has to start showing losses for years before anyone will really think that their time has gone.

The iPhone is not the new Blackberry, nor does it have a never-ending slew of major problems. 8.0.1 was a bungled up OS update that was corrected moderately quickly, not some major flaw that will lead to the downfall of the company.

Also, iPhones have made progress. I'll admit that not every iteration has been "one giant leap for mankind" status, but the phones and tech in them have definitely improved each time.

She bought a then high end model. I think its f12 or 13. I7 quad core, dedicated video card, blu Ray player and (I must say it) a GORGEOUS full hd screen. That one is a killer.
Funny story: her laptops fans were going at max speed all the time. I opened it, removed the heat sink and what did I found? Solidified thermopaste, hard as rock. Rubbed with alcohol for a couple of hours, applies a new one, put an ssd in it while I was at it and it's been fine since. Listen, it's a good machine and all, but the design is meh. And by design I mean build quality as well. But it's still better than most windows laptops, that one I'll give you :)

BB was irrelevant the day the original iPhone was launched. Knew it was toast beyond toast then - if only I had shorted the stock, I'd be a rich man today.

Apple's in a position of asking themselves, how do you top yourself when you've already hit it out of the park. It would take a whole new revolution and way to interact with the phone, not the evolution that we are seeing now.

To expect Apple to produce a whole new paradigm shift that matches the initially idea of the iPhone experience - maybe some company will figure it out someday. You certainly won't find it in copycat Android/Windows phones.

A neural interface? A phone that can read your mind and react to your thoughts? Maybe someday - but I don't think we've reached that point with tech just yet.

The original iPhone was a brave new concept - not only did it replace a traditional keyboard with touchscreen, it brought about the whole idea of how gestures can be used to interact with the phone. It wasn't just a pressing of virtual keys or pen input, which up to that point, was all people thought touch screens were useful for.

Very well said!

Often times, people forget just how revolutionary the original iPhone was. In terms of technology, it's spot in the 'top technological innovations of all time' list is forever cemented.

And you're right. Certain people seem disappointed that Apple has not matched its innovative prowess circa 2007-2010. But the market and tech world is in another place right now. This is a different era. It's an era of maturation of products. Now that the original iPhone spawned this entire new industry (touch based, smartphone, mobile computing), it's what we are able to do with this that will define this era.

Yes...Samsung or LG or HTC might have minor innovations in their phones here and there, but let's not forget they owe their existence to the original iPhone.

I have to concur. iTunes routinely deletes music and videos that weren't bought from the iTunes Store. I have to keep my own backups and re-import them periodically. iTunes Match replaced some songs that I ripped from CD with other songs that I don't like and didn't want. Until I upgraded to the 6, I couldn't even sync music reliably; half the songs weren't transferred; they looked like it, but wouldn't play.

The worst part is that if I want to sync my non-iTunes purchased content, I can only do so from one of my computers, not any of them, even if the content is on a portable hard disk.

Got home at 5pm and plugged into iTunes which is ritual when I get home to change for a dog walk.

Noticed I had 28GB of "Other" data in iTunes.

Tried to follow Internet posts on how to clear it, watched some videos - no dice to clear it.

Assumed it was stale MP3 data I tried to import over the past few days to take advantage of 128GB iPhone 6 $925 beast device.

Since I couldn't get rid of it without restoring, I figured I'd restore with ios 8.02 which was the final solution for stale Other data.

iOS 8.02 restore/install failed and I got a 1043 error<?>

Look at my backups through iExplore, all is well, not worried too much about losing data.

Have spent the past 6 hours trying to get out of Recovery Mode.

My iPhone 6 is now bricked for the most part. Genius Bar Soho appointment tomorrow at 2:40pm.

It amazes me that this phone is really unusable for what I want to do - smoothly and easily manage my own MP3 library with the 128gb space I now have. Irregardless of now having a bricked phone.

This was life with Blackberry, when we would whip out the BBSAK and hack our way out of the depths of Hardware Hell.

I cannot imagine what middle aged women are doing with 8.02. I guess they call Apple.

I am sad that this phone is a steaming pile of garbage, and that iTunes truly is, a steaming pile of filth.

Whoever is in charge or works on the iTunes product, you should be ashamed.

I know one man development shops that release better tools than this.

It is an embarrassment.

I am tired, worn out, have a 2 week old bricked iPhone 6.

Is there anything out there that just works?

F series is (or I should say, was) entry level. Basically multimedia laptops at a reasonable price. (not knocking it, just trying to differentiate which series Sony put more resources into when it came to build quality and design for long-term durability)

This was actually a huge problem for Sony over the past decade. 90% of their products would be made of cheap plastic, be behind the competition, and break really easily. The other 10% would have cutting edge technology, be assembled in the finest manufacturing facilities in Japan, and have designs that were lightyears ahead of anything else on the market (XBR televisions, VAIO Z series, OLED TV, you name it). The expensive stuff would be ridiculed for their astronomical prices, while the cheap stuff would be ridiculed for their poor quality. The two opinions would meld together and bring down Sony's brand value. Now they're having a real hard time of it getting out of that hole they dug themselves into, despite very good products like the Xperia Z3 and a7 MILC.

Both of these work. The combo of these two should get you set straight.

Who says comparing "companies" Einstein? I am comparing user experience, satisfaction and stability.

I'm feeling the frustration for Apple that I had for BB which led to my exodus away from BB.

Apple is frustrating me to the point of looking at other options.

Don't talk about industry, talk about user experience.

Your frustrations are all internal. Many of us are not frustrated at all.

I am just a lookyloo, reading all these problems. I have no problems, not with Mac, iTunes, Windows, Phones.

This is all ridiculous. If you have problems, then work with them and get them solved. You have heard of "back ups" That never went away.

Some people are just complainers. A coworker complains there computer crashes, all the time. Well get up and do something about it. Don't hate the computer, it's all in you, to be an effective user.
