The 4S continues to be the best selling smartphone in the world overall as it's likely well past 130 million units sold since its launch.....

Plenty of 4S owners out there ready to upgrade. Like every iPhone before it, it will break first weekend sales records and become a smash hit.

Funny people predict what you are predicting every year.....said the same thing about the iPhone 5.

I completely agree. People say "NO ONES GOING TO BUY THE NEWEST IPHONE!!" EVERY YEAR...and year after year they fly off the shelves. When are people going to learn? It's at the point now, where regardless what Apple releases, people will buy it. You have to think about the average consumer, not just us. We are a very small, teeny tiny portion of iPhone users. The average user doesn't obsess over every little feature the iPhone will have, they simply want it because it's the fastest, latest and greatest, PERIOD.

The average person is completely clueless about the leaks, possible features, or even the fact that they are releasing the 5C. Even after September 10th, the average person won't realize what's going on until the actual phone is released. Then it will spread like wildfire.

I gave up my 4S for the 5. After having used both extensively, I felt the 5 was a great upgrade over the 4S - especially since I've now sold my 5 in preparation of getting the 5S and have had to go back to using a 4S.....feels small, heavy, old and the display isn't as crisp.

That's how I feel about the iPhone 5 after seeing the hardware of other manufacturers. Except that I would substitute heavy with awkward.

Haha, I see you posting nothing but iPhone/Apple hate through this whole forum. Again, you have 8,000 Apple products listed in your signature. Who's the fool?

Go on and enjoy the "hardware of other manufacturers"..

no buzz? apple just sent out a notification and every media house is going crazy. apple is the buzz machine...;)

They're definitely not losing any buzz. Just about every tech blog and even general news media outlet constantly has some article regarding something about Apple almost everyday.

Not losing any buzz. Just that the excitement we had in the first few models is gone. This happens with all products especially omce the market becomes saturated

This is how I feel. I left iPhone because I fancied a change and I've found android to be excellent.

But probably the main reason I don't want to go back is that EVERYONE has an iPhone (and won't shut up about them) - kids, the unemployed, grand parents, shop workers, bin men, my 57 year old spinster neighbour.

The iPhone isn't as special to me as it once was. Apple's massive sales are, for me, a massive turn off.

And Androids MASSIVE sales aren't a turn off either? I don't get your logic.

I don't care that the iPhone is owned by everyone under the sun, it is a fantastic phone that is simple to use. Personally, I will probably continue to buy iPhones for as long as they continue to release them.

I've had friends (even my dad) who got tired of their iPhones and went to Android. Most didn't last long and came back.

I tried to jump to Android (HTC One)...came back. Recently even tried the BlackBerry Z10...and came back in less than two days!!

I may criticize Apple for its lack of hype...but I'm definitely an iPhone guy, and will probably ways be one.

Ive never considered myself a fanboy, but have had every iPhone incarnation since the Gen1 model...which was arguably the last really amazing iPhone. Yeah it was much slower than my current 5...but the metal case that mimicked the computer lines was beautiful and almost jewel-like. It felt amazing in the hand, and was a work of art.

Since that model, and the incredible excitement & expectation that Apples marketing strategists created...with each new model release the buzz has gotten less & less, to a point where there is really little or no real hyped media excitement surrounding the Sept. 10th announcement of new Apple products.

Frankly, I'm not at all excited about the upcoming "5s" and certainly not the pop-colored "5c". They are just pathetically poor "new" devices that only offer tiny tech improvements over last years devices yet still command higher prices than most other smartphones on the market. Apple knows that, historically speaking, they will still sell all they can make even with such lackluster innovation & improvement.

I believe the public is getting smarter. I believe the post-Jobs Apple is in for a shock this go-round. I predict sales at an all-time low as most people will hang onto their current "5" and simply update to OS7 when it's released.

The magic is over...and it's sad.

In case you haven't realized, the high-end smartphone market is mature and saturated at this point; if you look at the latest offerings from other companies, there is really nothing groundbreaking. The next battle will be wearable computing devices.
