I have had iPhones for years with no issues. I've also handled other peoples iPhones and phones in stores without issues. Recently my 6s broke and I ordered an 11 to replace it. I noticed that I get itching and burning on my hands when I touch it. I then got my 6s fixed, they swapped it for a warranty replacement and this *new* 6s also causes the same issue. The 11 is "black" and the 6s is "space gray". The 6s it replaced had a "silver" finish and I had no similar issues with that phone.

I *did* have a similar reaction to an Apple Watch Sport band once. But never to any iPhone. I own a space gray 2017 MacBook Pro that does't have this issue.

Anyone experience something similar? Any idea what's causing it?

I suggest a trip to a dermatologist to find out if your allergic to aluminum or glass....
Yeah I placed a call into my doctor. I doubt I'm allergic to either of those things since glass and aluminum in other things doesn't cause this. I wonder if its something in the color coating on the aluminum? Is the "silver" color finish just plain aluminum? The others are clearly coated/colored somehow.

This might help you...

I'm pretty sure all aluminum colors are anodized with color..

Anodizing requires some pretty harsh chemicals, like sulfuric acid. Presumably, when devices are new this can be found in higher concentrations then a device that has been "handled" over time. I'd wager it would become less and less of an issue for you as time passes. Still though, not cool.

This is further proof us Apple savages shouldn't be licking our devices! LMAO 🤣

I wondered about that. I also wonder if maybe the devices are being cleaned somehow with something at the factory due to COVID, whereas before they weren't?

Definitely worth checking out in more detail. Fingers crossed for you OP!

Haven't tried with a case. Since I never reacted to any iPhones before, it seems like I should be able to touch it without a case and be fine. But I guess I should try with a case.

I put on my mask and went to both Wal Mart and Best Buy today which are still open (unlike Apple Stores). I held the phones on display and I only had a slight reaction to one of the phones. It's not a great test because those phones are getting touched and cleaned a million times a day. But its still weird that I react this way to my own (new) phone, but not the same ones on display at a store.
