How did you get it for $30 less? I thought Verizon charges a $20 or $40 activation/upgrade fee? When I tried to buy the Verizon version outright from Best Buy they were going to charge me an activation fee of $40 so I just bought the sim free version from Apple for $729 which saved me $10 and I’m not locked to Verizon for 2 months.
Activation fee is only for new lines it turns out, not a transfer. Currently waiting for new phone to work. My sister, the family account manager was needed and I was on a group call until he deactivated my 6S. She is still on the phone with him, and I'm texting her from my Macbook.

This guy has gone into selling iPhone cases, now! He does a good job of dropping iPhones, however!
His technique is awesome. If he wants it to hit the front or back he can do it. Watched it this morning. I haven't seen that he can do that from 50 feet, then it is pretty random.

Two big takeaways from that video, one, the ceramic screen really helps, and two, he said twice that gen2 cases would be available for the holidays (also gen1 are now 15% off but not available for 12). Since he was reviewing iPhone 12 models have to assume Rebel cases will soon be available. I totally want one.

I read a lot. You make pronouncements about a product you haven’t used based on what you have seen from other past phones. When someone says the screen isn’t as bright etc. I have seen you immediately say its defective and return it. You didn’t even bother doing common sense trouble shooting. You have a bad habit of constructing your opinion (often times) as fact and that is what sets alarms off for many new members and those who are not tech savvy.

And when confronted in any way, you insult people and try to talk down to them as if you know it all. I have seen this behavior repeatedly on here.

It’s one thing to try and help people in a constructive manner that walks through important trouble shooting steps, which may lead to finding a solution that may have been user error or ignorance at times. It is quite another to make definitive statements alarming people into looking for problems that may not be there.

I agree with Robert here.

Yes. When I know that much I won’t spend time explaining it to every person who questions me.

Simple solution:

Go to an Apple Store. Test this on 5-10 Apple OLED iPhones. Not just 1 or 2. You’ll have your answer. I have nothing to discuss with you until you do that.

But the problem is you DON’T always know. You always make definitive statements and try to pass them on as facts. Regardless if it comes to product rumours (in which case you have been wrong so many times) or in this case supposedly defective products.

Don’t pass your opinions around as facts. It’s tiresome and at least in my eyes, not a very good look.

Let’s watch this closely and see how Apple handles it. Until then, let people enjoy their new phones. You telling everyone to return their devices and claiming they’re all faulty is a bit extreme.

I agree with this.

There is nothing for Apple to handle. A few users complain of this issue each year. Just check previous posts. This isn’t a widespread issue yet.

What I’m preaching about how Apple’s auto brightness works is indeed fact. If you’re in doubt, visit an Apple store and you’ll learn the truth.

QUESTION! What charger are you guys gonna be using? Or planning to use? Because I don't have anything lower than 10W charger from my old iPad mini. Well, I bought 20W charger with the phone.. but It's not a great idea to use this 20W daily right?
I am using my good ol' 5W Apple charger from my previous iPhone. It charges plenty fast for me; I was surprised actually. I definitely don't feel the need to get a 20W charger.

Interesting. I’ve had my Verizon account for awhile now and still was being required to pay $40. Guess it’s an “upgrade” fee. Either way that’s pretty cool you were able to get the phone without the extra charge.

1 day in and still torn. I love the size factor, still a shame I can't reach the top without some grip adjusting, but the main problem is really the text size specially when scrolling it's just not as comfortable as say an iPhone XS. I know I can adjust the size, but feels overblown that way. I really don't know what to do
You can adjust system wide font size in display setting and/or in safari for web browsing. It’s the aA in the search bar.

It doesn’t look like the alleged brightness problem is a actual problem for mini’s as a whole. You have one member here who doesn’t even own a mini much less handled one making definitive statements that are starting to worry some other people. Said member is merely offering his opinion most of the time, even though he likes to reply as if what he says is fact that cannot be refuted in any way.

As someone who bought the mini, I am not really concerned with the current software bug. Apple will get it fixed and that will be that. This isn’t the first time a phone has been released with a problem found after the release. Each release there has been something that Apple has to address. That happens on the other side of the tracks as well.
I agree wholeheartedly. He doesn't work for Apple and has no more experience, other than his own anecdotal, than anyone else that's been around here for years. I'm sure there are some people that might have some sort of defects, but to try to diagnose anything on a message board without actual hands on the device and then telling people to have their device replaced is just stupid.

Ok, so my iPhone 12 mini was supposed to be delivered yesterday but my wife missed the delivery man by a few mins, so I collected from my local DHL depot today about 12pm. Got home and did back up and restore from my iPhone SE 2020 via Mac with no issues. This is my first Face ID / OLED iPhone. I thought It would be smaller and narrower, but I like the size. Being used to bezelled Touch ID iPhones, the all screen display is quite incredible and OLED is nice, vivid and bright to my eyes. There is that yellow tinge that everyone is talking about for sure when True Tone is on, but is quite cool when off. I can use it one handed no problem, but have to shuffle a bit to get to the control centre (SE was easier as you swipe up). I am very impressed with the Mini, its literally the perfect phone for me and compliments my Ipad Air 4 beautifully.

I need to mention however, that after staring at the OLED screen for a few mins today I felt a headache coming on, but it didn’t materialise. I have been working for the last 4 days on site (13 hour) shifts so I am very tired and I hope this is the reason, and not PWM sensitivity. My eyes might need time adjusting to the OLED screen.

I’ve put them on ignore.

yeah i'm gonna drive 6 hours to a apple store to test the brightness on iPhones hahahah, you're dreamin...

Then order a replacement. Or go to a nearby BestBuy/Walmart/any place with iPhones on display.

OMG, here you go again!

Are you seriously suggesting that you have complete insight to all of the tiny components that have gone into making this device, or it’s thousands of lines of code in iOS?

Well I am thrilled with my Mini in Green. The color is awesome and the size is perfect (for me). I enjoyed my 2020 SE Product Red but I now have my dream phone. Now to get this damn vaccine out ASAP so I can use Face Unlock in public. Yes I know that entering 8 digits to unlock is not the end of the world but until we are out of this mess I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Touch ID.

Thank you for your answer ;) !!!

you know what's crazy about this phone? how the screen size of apple's current smallest phone is almost the exact same size as apple's previous LARGEST phones (mini =5.4", 6/7/8+ = 5.5"). i compared my new mini against my mom's 8 plus and the usable screen size is virtually indistinguishable.

I just enabled Reachability in the Accessibility settings and one hand use is definitely achievable now.

I got one just to see how I would like it and its a cool little phone for sure. I think I'm going to keep it as a spare but man does it feel like a toy in the hand. Its so small and light its crazy.

The iPhone 4 and 5 (also 1st gen SE) feel like toys. My gf jokes that the Mini is a demo phone. It’s just so light.

I know I can adjust the font or make it zoom but literally then it looks like a phone for senior folks with overblown fonts and icons.

does anyone notice that the font gets specially blurry when scrolling vs past phones?
