With the latest betas of iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, Apple added new functionality to iPhone Mirroring, the feature that lets you control your iPhone from your Mac. When iPhone Mirroring first debuted in the betas, there was no support for managing the Home Screen, but that's now changed.

Apple added an option to get into jiggle mode, as noted by 9to5Mac. After activating the iPhone Mirroring app, you can click and hold on the iPhone's Home Screen to activate jiggle mode. In this mode, you can do everything you can in jiggle mode on the iPhone itself, from deleting and rearranging apps to managing widgets.

You can add widgets, change widget sizes, activate app long press functionality, turn on dark mode icons, or opt into icon tinting. There is no option to get to the Lock Screen or Control Center, though, and notifications can only be viewed through the Mac notification center.

Apple added the new jiggle functionality in the iOS 18, iOS 18.1, macOS 15, and macOS 15.1 betas, so if you have any of the developer or public betas, you should be able to use the new iPhone Mirroring functionality as of now.

How would this mirroring work in relation with brain chip implants?
Could it be related to Apple developing this technology?

iPhone Mirroring sounds more like a gimmick. You can just use the same apps on the Mac as you have on your iPhone? I can’t think of a practical use for this feature? Some people thinks they will use it because its faster to type with their Macs keyboard, but if you are answering messages in iMessage or What'sapp, or type a long email, why not just use the Mac apps? You will receive the same notifications on your Mac as you would get on your iPhone as well? Also iPhone Mirroring only works if your Mac and your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network so your phone is still next you? I can see a point if you want to help somebody with their iPhone (which will not work since mirroring only works with your own device) but there is already FaceTime with SharePlay or TeamViewer? Possibly useful for App-developers?

It's inexplicable that you still can't access Control Center or Notification Center.

What if an iPhone could mirror another iPhone. And what if an iPhone A is mirroring an iPhone B which mirrors an iPhone C which mirrors iPhone A? 🤯🤨

I was going to ask a similar question... Can some of the folks who plan to use the iphone mirroring, tell us how/when you plan to use this feature? I can't think of any significant use case, however Apple seems to make it sounds like a big deal.

Interesting. I use my Mac for work and to know I can just see my iPhone by clicking a notification from it and type on my Mac with a full keyboard rather than picking up my phone will definitely make life easier and will make me use my phone much less. I would not be surprised if I use my iPhone much much less

When are we going to get iPad Mirroring?
This completely. Mirroring an iPad would get away from the toy keyboard attachment that costs 300 bucks and only can be used with a specific generation of iPad. Mirror to a Mac screen suddenly make the iPad usable for creating real content via mouse and keyboard.

I still wish they’d introduce a wibble-wobble configuration, not to mention a tickle filter, but I guess Jiggle Mode is a start.

Can someone answer me about using streaming apps with DRM using iPhone Mirroring? Can you play downloaded Netflix / HBO / Paramount+ / Disney+ content and view it on the Mac through this feature?

I’m stuck without good WiFi so i have to download everything, but that doesn’t work to AirPlay from… so I’m stuck at small screen. I use iPad with an HDMI dongle on the TV, but that doesn’t work with Disney. Downloading on Mac is an option for some services, not others. It’s a mess. Hoping an iPhone with USB-C will open up things, but the blocking of that on iPad by Disney is making me lose hope.

Then there’s the issue with certain movies not working with Home Sharing despite being purchased from Apple. Dune 1 works fine. Dune 2 will only play from device it’s downloaded to or if hooked up via HDMI dongle— it will not work from Home Share.
