not to mention that the stock app was missing on the "iphone nano" why would the size of a phone influence the stock app?
because magical flying monkeys told me so

maybe its aimed at the more average phone user, who doesn't need to check stocks
The "average phone user" is a convenient myth. There is no average user. People use what interests them or that which is convenient or useful, you can't just stereotype people into false categories. People use modern convergence devices for a multitude of things, hence the appeal of the smart phone.
but there is still the fact that some people buy phones with less features for less money, and others that buy smart phones with more features for money.
an iphone "nano" maybe just a cut down iphone for people who don't want to pay for a high end phone with features they'll never use.
Why not just use a normal iPhone with a cheaper plan, then? Isn't that what this is all about?
All this "iPhone Nano" talk always just boils down to "I want a cheaper monthly plan" -- so why is this up to Apple? If you could pay $25 a month and have an iPhone would that be ok? Take it up with your carrier. I can get an iPhone with a $20 plan from Fido in Canada. People in other countries have even more freedom with their plan choices.
well no, not exactly. many people want a phone where you don't have to be tied into a monthly plan at all. Here in the UK, you can get the iPhone on pay and go, but with the 16gb costing almost £400 (nearly $600) it's way out of most people's price range.
Especially when you can buy a brand new simple non smart phone nokia for around £100, which is the type of phone a lot of people have.

The next thing that people are going to start talking about is the iPhone shuffle.
"Who will it dial next? No one knows!"
