I work with teens every day.....LOTS of them. What I have noticed with them is with the guys, things with bigger screens are getting more popular. The first Note 2 I got to play with for any length of time was from of of my guys. Smaller phones are more popular with the girls. iPhone 5 adoption with all of them has been very slow. There are many with the 4 and 4S but very small numbers of 5's.

The iPad mini seems to be appealing to the girls.

Many are going with a smaller or cheaper phone and getting a large capacity iPod instead.

I'm 16,& only me & my cousin (15) ,have iPhones out of all our friends. It sucks kinda cause I might as well turn iMessage off lol

The article is an opinion piece, not news. No teens were polled, there's no hard data. Just the author blathering about how much she thinks she knows about what teens want, and a few pundit quotes thrown in for good measure.

This "news" isn't even worth commenting about.

I do agree that Apple must continue to evolve though. But if smartphone market share is really as fad-driven as everyone seems to think, then I would think humungous screens are going to be sooooo last year by the time Apple comes out with something. I'd rather they evolve eslewhere.

It's hilarious because most people from my school have cheap Android handsets, so I guess to be trendy you get anything that's not an Android device.

Teens gave us One Direction and Fun. Please, tell me why the opinions of these fools -- few of whom actually pay for the phone or service -- matters a bit.

I literally have a class in school where only 1 person doesn't have an iPhone.

Think Different. Oh, wait! THINK CONFORMITY! It use to be having an Apple product was unique, but now it is just blah with like every non-tech knowledgeable person having the exact same thing. Apple has become the big brother it use to take shots at in its commercials.

As long as Apple keeps innovating Software & Hardware there will be a large following. The pace and competition have heated up and Apple must leap to the occasion. Which they are more than capable of doing. Competition makes things better.

In 2011 HTC is the first, Apple is the second.

Now Samsung is the TOP one , but Apple is also the second .

Well, at least the iPhone remains the no. 1 choice among the elderly and mentally challenged / disabled.

Make of that as you will. lol

Back when I had the 3GS, not everyone had iPhones and when I'd bring it into a meeting, people were a bit envious. That was then. Now, I see just as many android phones as I do iPhones around the office. More actually. Apple isn't the only choice for high-end now. Especially since RIM is out to pasture and Apple is sticking with a small screen.

I'm 18 myself and iPhones never appealed to me until the iPhone 5 came out. I think it's appealing to more teens than ever as at my university, 80% of the phones I see are iPhones.
