Only thing I've noticed so far which is bugging me (was on 3.0.1 before), is that the KB tap sounds are quieter, can see some people preferring this, however is annoying me.

My battery life has dramatically improved. It was mediocre before and now it's beyond phenomenal. With wifi on and just texting, I haven't even dropped 1% in an hour.

Also, my phone/3G hasn't frozen since the update. That used to happen at least once daily.

My iPhone still hangs anytime I wake from sleep. The slider won't move at first, then it just dissappears. A small thing, sure. But now every time I use my phone I'm greeted first and foremost to a memory leak or whatever. My 3g remains sluggish and choppy ever sence moving from 3.0 and I'll soon be reverting.:(

Did you restore from a backup or setup as a new phone? I set mine up as a new phone and it's running beautifully.

i just did a restore and did set up as new phone. lets see if this fixes the sms.

ps. i been testing it and it seems that if you let the phone go into sleep by itself the text wont make noise. aka letting the phones screen go black.

if u press the power button yourself next time you get an sms it seems to make the noise.

iphone 3.1 and 3.12 and optus

Major problems still ongoing for myself and my wife on 3G iphones. Since the upgrade still not receiving calls and my phone is on. Problem not resolved with the upgrade to 3.12. Now have to have a second phone when oncall as I will miss calls for critically ill patients.

Since 3.1 and 3.12 upgrade have also had the return of the garbled call.

Would advise not upgrading at this time.

Call AT&T. It could be that they don't have the correct IMEI in their database. Mine came up ok right away but my wife's didn't. I called and, as soon as they corrected the IMEI entry on their side, it worked immediately.

Thanks for the suggestion...will try that!

I upgraded my 3g to 3.1.2 and connectivity, or signal, has improved a bunch! Bettery battery life so far, and runs a bit smoother. I am also JB as well.

...and runs a bit smoother...

Yeah, and everyone jumps on my case because I said that 3.0 wasn't as smooth as 2.2.1.

I tested out 3.1.2 and it's still not as smooth as 2.2.1 and Mail and Voice Memos still stutters terribly, but it's getting a little better. Each update has been a tiny bit smoother, but still nothing like 2.2.1.

Oh well. I guess that's Apple's new thing.

With 3.2 installed I couldn't answer 7 out of 10 calls. With 3.2.1 installed I can't answer 2 out of 10 calls. Great Apple!! I only pay 30 euro's a month, don't worry about the fact that I can't receive calls. Not really that important anyway.

I know what your problem is. You're running a future release of the iPhone software. 3.2 isn't even out yet and 3.2.1 probably hasn't even started to be worked on. Downgrade to the current 3.1.2 software and see if you have the same problem.

Hahaha, I mean 3.1.1 and 3.1.2. I got them really mixed up :p

You're telling me, I actually had to start carrying my pager and nextel with me when I had 3.1.1

I have still got lots of problems

1. Ringer volume will constantly rise without me pressing a button. And the ringer logo will stay on the screen.
2. Constantly goes from sleep/wake without me pressing a button
3. Sometimes when i press the home button it will take a screenshot.
4. Randomly resests itself
5. Hasn't fixed the Iphone "coma"

Tried 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.0.1 and all have had the same problem, so now im stuck.

I am not sure what to do here. I am running 3.0.1. I never upgraded to 3.1 due to the coma issue.

No major problems except for battery life and signal issues. Particularly, I have a hard time switching cell towers. Is there really a battery life improvement, or are you guys just joking around (like, everything is "snappier").

Should I upgrade to this latest version, or stay put?

Did you guys do clean installs ( Setup as a new phone ) or did you restore from a backup? These sound like problems associated with restoring your bugs right back onto your new OS.

IMHO YES!! I had trouble the last couple of days switching from "O" to E to
3g. **we are just in the first stages of turning on 3g where I live** Official date is 30th oct. However, after I upgraded to 3.1.2, I didn't have that problem anymore. Could be a ATT issue with towers, but I honestly think it was both that and firmware. I have full 5 bars of 3g now everywhere. Battery life for me has improved.

Erase all your settings and start. Note i didn't say erase all content...just settings.

Also i'm curious to know if the OP uses PUSH email, contacts, calendar?

I do use Push email, but not contacts or calendar. Why do you ask?

Wondering if you are getting that battery life stat with or without push usage because I'm not but I use push email, contact and calender so I guess that's why. My batt life isn't terrible but it's not outstanding either

Has anyone tried tether and custom IPCC on none ATT?

I have a factory unlocked Hong Kong 3gs and I live in Taiwan, HK and China. I have custom IPCC for all those countries. Has any tried this? Not ATT
Thanks in advance

I have the same push settings on 3.1.2 that I did on 3.1.1 and much better battery life.

My battery life has become worse since 3.1.2 and WiFi signal is still not at its best. The iPhone itself is a bit smoother but far from smooth like it was on 2.2.1!

I have discovered new ringtones though like Timba Drum, don't know if they came with 3.0 already.
