Funny you say, they've got none with Apple either 🤣
here I will disagree, sure apple's privacy is DEFINITELY not where it should be, especially with their advertising
but with features like private relay being so simple to setup, there has been an actual increase in people who use a vpn or relay to hide their activity

lol! Obviously a 'just in America' thread again...
RotW recent iPhones are too expensive and have lacked any 'OMG I have to buy it' level of innovation for years compared to competition. They're turning into devices you once remember everyone owning but don't see anymore.
Downthumb to your heart's content, but that's my experience.
EDIT: and as for iMessage (or even old-fashioned text messaging)? Lol! Virually no one outside of America is using that sh...

I am writing from Japan.
When my daughter entered her technical Highschool We were told to supply a NEW iPhone and a Ipad that wasn't too old.
we said ok and bought her iPhone 11. School told us to tell us The parents own the iPhone and not the child. This was said to us, to help control the usage of the devices during her 3 years of high school. During these 3 years, we did that, with the understanding that our child. There is and should fine line between who owns the device. If it does not rule followed it will be taken away.

I am always amazed how in the US alternative, multi-platform messaging apps never succeeded. I mean, in Europe, South America, and India WhatsApp is king, China got WeChat, etc... While some of these apps can be (are) bad privacy-wise, it's filled with good alternatives out there.
I want to delete WhatsApp as soon as possible, but can't find a single person in Europe that wants to communicate with me via iMessage. As if ones iCloud address is too private to share with strangers, only family. 🤷

So apple is about to dominate the entire US with iOS, kicking google out of USA, in a few years.
Wonder what Google is thinking about this right now. Probably not very good feeling id argue.
Also, Apple “respecting privacy” is to protect their user base from being monetised by rival companies, not for the good of user. And green bubble really hurts teenagers huh.

I’m not surprised. It’s so rare when I see others with Android phones nowadays. Lol. Even though love having one.

That is why you can never trust kids...
After collage, when real life comes, mortgage, health insurance, pay back collage loans, car, etc.. then most of them will think twice about a 1000$ phone.

I think this will be when a $1000 iPhone makes even more financial sense.

My experience with Apple products is that while they cost more upfront, they quickly pay for themselves in the form of greater productivity and fewer problems overall.

With the iPhone, you are getting at least 5 years of guaranteed software updates, an established ecosystem, great apps and excellent build quality (at least, these are the key reasons I prefer my Apple products).

Android phones are quire rare in the town I live in. I live about an hour and a half away from central London by train. I used to commute into London on the train. I remember I would have to be about 45 minutes into my journey going towards London before I started seeing any android phones. It wasn't until I started getting to outer London that I'd see android phones and then you'd see more as you got further into London.

Correct. Because it's the right thing to do. Apple's privacy policy actually hurts their own products. Although one will think what they think, the striked-out text is cynical thinking.

😂😂😂 I literally LOLed at this. Very good point as my wife’s mother just switched to android because the Lock Screen and background can have a video playing on it. Pretty sure that’s the only reason why she switched.
My dad is an Android fan boy and gets very irate at everyone in the family using iPhones. He used to have a list of things that only Android could do, and over the years it’s all disappeared. Except the back button! The only thing he is keeping is Android phone for now is the back button.

As it should. 10 years from today the % will be tripled. iPhone Rules The World! 👑
Please, next time, when youre thinking about splashing your money to buy a new iphone, please think of spending that money for something more useful, like on something to educate yourself a little better on maths?

What’s the point of changing the shape of an icon or font?

I much prefer standardization and minimalism.
It was fun at the time. Smart Phones were the new craze and being able to completely change the UI on a phone was pretty awesome. I no longer care about that but at the time, having an Android was freaking awesome. But once rooting became harder and lost its appeal, then I went the way of minimalism.

Funny thing is though, with all due respect to Apple, they have never tried harder to be more like Android than they are today. Full circle!

Are the kids really wearing Apple Watches these days? 1/3 is way higher than I would have guessed.

This is astounding success for Apple in America, their real difficulty is replicating it elsewhere.
I see more “tweens” wearing them recently than older teens. Older teens don’t seem to like wearing watches at all, at least where I am. That’s by no means representative of what the situation at large might be.

Does that mean androids are for old people ?
Possibly. A few months ago when visiting family down south, I was in line with a bunch of other old people like myself (50+ group) at a restaurant that pretty much mostly older people patronize and nearly everyone around me was on Samsung phones. I was pretty surprised.

So, iPhone now is officially a kid's phone.
That's what people used to say about Apple's historic high profile in the education sector--they are only for kids. Then, as now, I am sure Apple viewed this as a way to move their products into new markets as kids age. Also, I am guessing Apple figures that as kids want to upgrade their iPhones specifically to a new iPhone, it often makes sense for Parents to upgrade their phones, and every time they do, there might be consideration for the parent to switch from Android to an iPhone.
