I know iMessage will be everyone's first thought but one of the big things Android has somehow not fixed after a decade+ of this issue is the abysmal camera quality inside third party apps like IG, Snapchat, etc. Green bubbles is one thing but any time a poor quality video goes viral the number one joke is "this guy's using an android 😂😂😂" I reckon that one running joke has really helped position iPhone as a necessity for social media use

Kids are too lazy to root, unlock bootloaders and load custom roms nowadays. Since that’s all Android is good for, they switch to the Blue Bubble Gods.

They don’t have time to customize. It cuts into schools, sleep and 10 hours of TikTok a day.

Oh, and iPhones rule all!

Yeah 10 years ago it was more about “hey look at this cool thing my phone can do”. I think people use their phones differently now and don’t really care that they got a new boot animation.

How are they affording it though, rich parents, after school jobs, mowing the lawn, constant begging?

Get them hooked while young 😄. Use them as young kids and you're bound to carry on using them as adults.

Absolutely. I used to design boot animations back in the Droid X and Thunderbolt days. Customizing was fun. Not saying it still isn’t, it’s just not what it used to be.

But you’re right, older and younger people are using their phone’s different. Plus there are a lot more distracting social apps now than there used to be.

Think they make faster chips just to keep up with my daughters thumbs when scrolling and typing. 👊🙄👍

This is interesting but also scary… once a peak threshold has been met what competition will there be in 2080 for example? I know people always go yea we won’t be using smartphones. Throw that away for a second… Idk Expect more htcs and blackberries around the world imo. The global stage much smaller. Apple will be complacent and so fat and lazy this might not bode well for the future. Because of the lack of competition. Let’s hope not because they have shown behavior already that is very trickle feed let’s drag this out FOREVER mentality just to ensure the continuation of the business structure. Obviously but it could become evil and stifle humanity some day. What other company with the same kind of capitol and electronics market as apple will challenge them when the next paradigm comes around? We might see in 2600 Apple is KING and controls us all.

We’ll be living in caves by then.

I'm not a teen but it seems like if you don't use an iPhone you'll be left out of iMessage-only group chats. That's both funny and somewhat dystopian.

Honestly a large of it is actually this. For teens I mean. I’m sure many adults too though lol.

Agreed. I’m in my late 30s and people my age who have Androids make me roll my eyes. Just get an iPhone ffs. The nightmare of SMS. Can’t send quality pics or videos. They don’t understand iCloud links or they don’t work properly.

Both phones cost about the same, so why would you actively choose the brand that is basically spyware, batteries die in an hour, clunky, 90s PC type design. I don’t get it.

At this rate, is Apple eventually going to hold a monopoly over the smartphone market in the future as the iPhone market share among teens climbs above 90%? Could Apple be sued for that like they got sued for the App Store "monopoly"? Why can't Android compete with Apple when it comes to creating one whole ecosystem where everything works like magic, among other reasons why the iPhone is so attractive (other than blue bubbles)? Speaking of blue bubbles, if Tim Cook says "f*** off" to the idea of bringing RCS support to iOS, is it possible that legislation could be passed that would force them to add support anyway?

Are the kids really wearing Apple Watches these days? 1/3 is way higher than I would have guessed.

This is astounding success for Apple in America, their real difficulty is replicating it elsewhere.

Because Apple is still relatively expensive for most of other countries. Should’ve adjusted the price according to the region.

A $999 phone is quite affordable for average Americans, even more so with carrier contracts. Not so much for average Indians, or Brazilians where the wage isn’t as high. Why not adjust the price a little bit?

Even Apple Music pricing varies on different regions? Surely something can be done about its hardware prices.
