I know you can use someone else's upgrade (in your family plan) to upgrade your phone early on verizon, but I don't know if you can on AT&T. Have you tried googling this? This seems like something you should be able to find on google.

You should be able to, but check with AT&T to be sure.

You should be able to order it under her Upgrade.
    Then Activate it on yours.

You can do this for AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

You can even take a friends extra upgrade and then activate the phone on your plan. all you need to do is have your mom add you as an authorized person to do so, and that takes a call to AT&T or a visit to a AT&T store!

Doesn't matter if it's there or through the carrier.

Just make sure you have all account info (billing zip, SSN, phone number).

    ----------

As soon as you put in your micro-SIM card into the 4S, it becomes your number.

You will need to get a micro-SIM card for your line before you can proceed.
