I don't think there's going to be a pro or nano phone anytime soon. The current form factor is perfect for a phone, they might make a bigger tablet device but it won't be an 'iPhone'.

I hope they go back to the metal backed design, the first iPhone design was breathtaking the 3G iPhone a step back. Also the original iPhone matched better with Apple's current product line-up.

So besides a return to aluminium, I'm expecting a 5mp camera with video at decent resolution, front facing camera for iChat, beefier multi-core processor and more RAM (allowing flash, background apps, other new software features), and a bigggg software update for the first time changing and improving the fundamental UI as well as adding new features and apps.

I think some of the software updates will be passed onto the 1st gen and 3G iPhone, but others will be exclusive to the new iPhone.

The switch from an aluminum casing to plastic made me think of the relationship between the MacBook's and MacBook Pro's (early 2008 at least), where one line was plastic and the other aluminum.

So put 2 and 2 together...iPhone Pro, perhaps? Maybe in July? I forsee this:
iPhone Pro

Aluminum makes for crappy reception. Different design needs altogether from the computer lines.

apple's going head strong into gaming, so i would only expect an updated processor, more ram, and top it off with a better display screen.

I really like your list there, a lot of the same stuff I would wish for.

With a lot of us posting up what we think we'll see and wishlists of varying sorts I think the important thing we need to keep in mind here is to not let our expectations sail so high. In other words don't set yourself up for dissapointment.

Yea its fun and all to speculate, guess and dream of what might be but I forsee a huge bitchfest coming in 5 months, hehehe. I know a lot of people that weren't thrilled with the iPhone 3G and I even admit that I was expecting a little too much myself and wasn't overly excited at what was new.

All I'm saying is that it can be easy to get caught up in this huge rumor mill and set yourself up for a huge letdown.

Keep expectations at a low and be suprised!

:D

I agree. Especially with all the statistics on iPhone gaming on the rise we've been seeing here lately. They've got to be looking at the long term HUGE potential of mobile gaming.

True=phone/internet device first and foremost but followed closely by gaming.

;)
