I would prefer a small black bezel at the top with the camera/ sensor array and keep the screen whole with no notches or islands. The area between the notch/island and the bezel seems useless anyway.

It doesn't work.

The trackpad on new MacBooks is just too big. I'm constantly having spurious touches putting the cursor in the wrong place. I hate it. They had trackpad size perfected in 2008, there was no need for this giant thing that I have to be extra careful to not touch when I'm typing.
I dont have any problem personally 🤷‍♂️

So… they gonna skip number 9 again, right?

: (

By pure chance had iPhones 4-8 and was really looking forward to iPhone iteration the 9th….wound up going from 8 plus to 12 pro (massive screen downgrade).

This can’t be coincidence we miss 9 again….can it?..

What a mistake. I Hope Apple just sticks to the plan of making great devices that "work". I cant tell you how many times Ive tried to go back to Android camp and inevitably I end up back on my iPhone because it works. Better. Stronger. Faster. The ecosystem is so much better, welll really its the only one and if ANYONE says Samsung/Windows Phone Link... then you dont understand what real work is.

Here here! (Or is it hear hear lol)

I’m curious however what this real work is all about? Like flowing high end video /music production through MacBook iPad iPhone etc?….

Don’t forget that Microsoft skipped Windows 9 and went to 10.

It's true, but to their credit they did have win 95 & 98

edit: apparently they purposefully skipped 9 because they were concerned it could have caused conflicts with legacy software checking for "Windows 95" or "Windows 98"

Apple is so lost at this point. Liquid Glass and blah blah blah. FIX YOUR UX/UI, it is a mess on both macOS and iOS. Spotlight is the biggest turd ever, and their solution is, "Now it can start emails and texts." WHA? Most of the time when I hold down CMD, the path does not appear, or clicking on a file still opens it. How hard is it to understand that most of the time when you are looking for a file, you do not want to open it in the default app?! You cannot disable or delete Apple Music, so that pops up randomly. You can no longer navigate in the Finder to find an attachment for Messages on macOS. Tim Cook is the worst CEO in the history of tech. If raking in endless dollars with zero sense of pride or understanding the CX, then he is the best. He is the polar opposite of SJ.
I've been forced to use Windows for a client over the last few months and 5 years ago, I didn't think I'd say it but I'm considering getting a windows desktop. I still have my M1 Max Macbook but I really do think the OS is becoming a mess.

Personally, I think the 20th anniversary iPhone will look kind of like an iPhone X but a bit thicker to accommodate the larger battery and vapor chamber cooling system, and may keep the triangular orientation of the three camera sensors due to need for Vision Pro compatibility. And it will come in two screen sizes, 6.3" and 6.9".

Pretty sure Samsung did this 10 years ago and it was awful.

Form over function.

IMHO the S6 edge & the S8 were the most gorgeous phones they ever made, they really hit it out of the park.
Pretty much everything since then (including the s9 which aesthetically was worse than the s8) have been meh.

That's from an aesthetics pov; from a user experience point of view; yeah it was not a good experience. I say that as someone who owned them.

Technology has come a long way since then though; so we'll see how apple go with their implementation.

It is probably only for notifications and information. Touch probably doesn't work on the sides, at least where you hold it.
Like the transparent ends on the ios26 safari screen, looks like you can touch it but it’s dead
