Yup my passwords are all changed remote wipe as well I wish I wouldve had iGotYa on my phone but my replacements here tomorrow so it will be on there ASAP

Does anyone know if the jailbreak app iGotYa prevents the iPhone from being restored?

I do not think the app iGotya prevents the phone from being restored. I have it installed on both my Att iPhone 4S and my Sprint 4S. The good think about the Sprint iPhone is that even if the thieves remove the sim card, they cannot turn it off (unless they destroy it). The only way is disable the app is to restore the phone.

On the Att, all they have to do is remove the sim.:(

OK, sorry to hear. Anymore details that us NYC'ers can use to prevent this from happening to us? Were there anyone around? Was it a darker street? What did the guy look like? What did he say, etc? Could definitely help some of us.

Don't walk around New York at 0300.... seems like a no brainer to me.

Also, sorry but how can hearing what the guy said to him "help" any one else.... "Hey, I have a knife give me your cell and wallet or I'll cut you". How is that going to help you when he comes to do it to you?

OP sorry to hear about your issue..... You skrewed up though. Next time someone pulls out a knife on you, tell him "that's not a knife", pull out your bowie knife and tell him, "this is a knife!"

You should have Kung fooed the knife out of his hand and took his wallet

You're right, every robbery scenario is exactly the same. I love macrumors, filled with the most jaded human beings.

AFAIK...Applecare or Applecare+ aren't transferable from one device to a new device replaced from a third party, they are tied to that device until it expires. However, if you replace your phone because of faulty hardware or something happens, then when you replace them at the apple store they will transfer the applecare or applecare+ to your replacement unit.

In your case, you are getting a replacement from Assurion, so it's likely that Apple won't transfer the applecare to your replacement. However, I would call Apple just to make sure because from what I understand, warranty can only be transferred from one device to another if it's a replacement from Apple itself.

Also sorry to hear this happen.

Well update assurion sent it today and im in a bit of shock apparently they sent a brand new iPhone in a box.Just happy to have it back.Kept trying to make phone calls on my iPod classic out of habit :D

Back before iPhones were even around, I was walking to the city from Kings Cross (kind of scummy area in Syd AUS, clubs and stuff, but still a bit shady), had a guy pull a pistol on me, hold it up to my chin/throat and demand my wallet.

I don't know why I did this, but I talked him into taking $20 (saying I only had $40 [not telling him about the $450 in my sock from the poker machines]) as I needed to get home, I explained that if I can't get home I am ****ed, and that $20 is better than nothing or even better, better than shooting me and then probably being arrested, sent to prison and being bummed daily by a big ****er who is looking forward to someone like him as a cellmate.

Thank some kind of deity, as he took my advice, took the $20 and ran for it.

I walked the rest of the way to the bus home, got home, and collapsed onto bed in a fit of laughter that I was able to talk my way out of being shot.

I'm sorry for what happened.

You were walking at 3 AM, alone in Brooklyn? Hate to say this, but this is not the safest context one could expect.

I wouldn't condone that behavior though.

$20 is replaceable. So is $450. And so is an iphone. A life, is not though.

One little push of the finger, a cough, some anxiety, and you're done. Do not take that risk ever boys and girls. Get out of that situation asap.
