Wow that GPS thing looks brillaint. I'm excited about this SDK.

Also can't see why people are complaining about the apple quality control issue???

OK if people want to get a non endorsed product its up to them but I will be going for the ones with the apple stamp of approval.

With wifi and the internet as it is now its just too risky to take chances with applications. And who do I blame for my PC being slow or crashing?? Microsoft even if most of the time its the software I install.Apple don't want MS's reputation and aren't going to let some too bit developer ruin it for them either-if they can help it.

Thou Protesteth too much-aren't you up to writing decent applications which can stand the test of scrutiny? Obviously not if you make this much fuss.

CAD software companies like Solidworks do the same thing. They have a Gold Certified Solidworks applications which have been tested to be fully compatible with the core Solidworks code. As a CAD user I know that if I buy a Gold Certified programme it will work fine and won't crash in the middle of a job.

Eg..

* As part of meeting the goal of Certified Gold Product Criteria, you will be asked to ship your product to SolidWorks where it will undergo testing to determine conformance to the Certified Gold Product Criteria.

Benefits

When your product is approved by SolidWorks

* We clearly identify your product on our Web site as a Certified Gold Product,
* You receive the Certified Gold Product kit for use in your marketing campaigns.
* You receive first priority for all marketing opportunities including trade show participation, demo CDs and no-fee direct mail.
* All SolidWorks Value Added Resellers worldwide will be notified as well.

To the people who say they aren't interested in developing for the iphone and touch if apple has the audacity to be a gate keeper.

GOOD, stay away I'm not a developer but I'm sick of the crap software served up on windows.

Do you honestly believe that the software available for Windows would have been better if Microsoft had acted as a gatekeeper?

Maybe you ought to compare Firefox and IE, or Apache and IIS ...

A shame ...

Now a developer who wants to offer free software on the iPhone/iPod Touch will have to pay $99 a year ... that's what Apple calls "opening to developers".

I guess jailbreaking will live a long and happy life.
