SDK is NDA!

The SDK is covered by Apples developer NDA. You can't talk about it in public without breaking your NDA.

Just thought I'd let you know.

1.plz keep posting screens and impressions and progresses :) -SDK
2.how about availability of appstore in countries without itunes store?

Joke post right?

Probably, but he/she may have a point. This is going to be international, right? So which country's/culture's morality is going to count? Stuff like picture pornography is simple, but what about non-picture stuff? What's acceptable in Denmark is not necessarily acceptable in the US.

Interesting.

Intel Macs only!!???!!! WTH! I'm pretty sure my G4 can still handle coding!

Yes but will the ARM emulator run on the G4? I bet it is "Rosetta-like" and depends on some features of the Intel chip. Also look at the ability to remotely debug, placing break points in the phone memory and so on and you can see why

Well, if all third party applications are coming through iTunes, I imagine
that it will not be possible the have some sort of special folder to throw files (like PDF files, Tiddlywiki or whatever) inside the Touch ou iPhone.

Can someone please confirm/deny this ?

;)

I think Apple's decision to put that download link on the front of Apple.com was a huge mistake. Half the planet is now trying to download that thing - even though they don't know what it is.

This is true, unfortunately. This is taking forever to download, or at least have Apple process my request to download it!

Will it be possible for someone to develop an MMS type application? Sorry if its been asked, I'm "edging" on my iPhone and don't want pages to load every 5 minutes..

So im a little confused... so as of right now there wont be any apps or anything released till about june or so?

The SDK is available today. But it runs only on an Intel Mac. If you want something that runs on your iPhone you have to wait until someone uses the SDK to write something you might want. That could happen as early as June or maybe never. It depends on what you like.

I'm sure the SDK comes with some demo apps. Apple has always included example code. So you could get the SDK and try out the examples and maybe even modify them. So Yes I bet you could have "hello world" on your iPhone tonight, if only the server where overloaded.

Wirelessly posted (Apple Communication Device: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

I hate roadmaps. It's an announcement about an announcement.

You mustn't be a developer.
The starters gun has just been fired, and you have until June to get the app ready for market or someone else will beat you to it.

You went to the wrong area.

You need to login here: http://developer.apple.com

and find "Free SDK" download. There is no waiting, just sign up with an ADC account and download.

Well i went to www.apple.com, then i went to the free SDK download, signed up as a developer. Then i got an email opening a window in Safari saying "download the free SDK" then the window says "We are processing your request. Please wait a few moments then refresh this page."

68k support?

6502 support?

oh wait the iPhone is ARM which was based off the 6502 instruction set right right.
][gs emulator for iPhone.

Some call the Woz and BG they have some spare time these days maybe they could knock up iPhoneBasic.

Yes. Even here on MR where people are much better informed we've been reading nothing but "I want the SDK now, now now" but mostly from people who don't know what SDK is or what to do with one.

They should explain to people that "A backhoe is not a swimming pool. A backhoe is something you use to make a swimming pool. An SDK is like a backhoe" I think there are a lot of people thinking they can download a swimming pool.

Easy to do?

I have never coded anything in my life and since i have 3 months to wait i figured maybe i can create something. Is it easy for me to do this, is there a lot learning i need to do?

thanks

external hardware?

I'm not seeing any refutation or confirmation of the iLounge rumor to the effect that the SDK cannot access external hardware via the docking port.

Anyone seen anything on that?
