Iphone is 1.5 years old and until about a month ago I was at peak battery capacity. It dropped to 98% (using optimized charging always), no big deal.
Then today I noticed my charge was down to 43% and I checked the battery stats to see whats using all the power and under battery health says “service”.
I thought they won’t service the battery unless it’s below 80%?
anyone else experience this?

Jack

Same problem here.

Not sure if I experienced the same thing exactly, but pretty similar. I had my SE 2020 since Oct 2020, everything was fine with it, then this past January 2022 it suddenly showed the “service battery now” message. I can’t recall if the capacity had dropped much, I think it was 95% or so, similar to your screenshot. Anyway I got the battery replaced free from local Apple Store, although it was annoying since it took 3-4 hours out of my day, and I think they said it would have cost $80 or similar if I had not had Apple Care. Weird how it said that “service battery now” message out of nowhere. Hope you can find a store for similar fix, or use their mail-in service if you aren’t near one. It’s a hassle and as much as I do like iphones, it’s been similar experiences with my iphone 3, and 7, and SEs, to where batteries seem to crap out after just 1.5 years or so, pretty regularly. : /

Likely there is some other fault. Talk to Apple.

That happened to my SE 2020 in June…

It seems to have been/is a major issue for the 2020 and around the 1.5 years mark batteries seem to start failing.

I took it in to my local Apple store and they said I had to pay for a replacement as it was 11 months old.

I then went to Amazon, who I had bought it from originally, and struck a deal with them and bought my 13 Mini.

That being said, I sold the SE 2020 to Mazuma and still got £145 for it… Battery condition and all.

Are you happy with the 13 mini? I am considering upgrading from SE 2020, but I’m not sure if I want to give up Touch ID.

I do love my 13 Mini. The size is perfect. 👌 It is my favourite iPhone since I owned a 5S.

However, in the beginning I really could not get used to Face ID. Especially the double clicking for Apple Pay seemed such an extra step.
But all is well now.
