Maybe with future smaller chips…
Maybe. We’ll see with the A18 if the A17 Pro is an exception of an immature manufacturing process, or the rule that indicates that FinFET cannot be improved much more.

On the other hand, with how powerful the efficiency cores are nowadays, they could make a SoC with power efficiency as a core feature. For instance, no RayTracing (I don’t need my iPhone to be a gaming console, thanks), less GPU cores, and less Performance cores on the CPU, leaving it with just 1 P-core and 4 e-cores. Or even better, a CPU with 6 e-cores and no performance cores.

I think that would be a good idea, however, I don’t think Apple, with the economies of scale that uses, will be willing to develop such a low energy System on a Chip.

And restore the Home button and Touch ID. NOW thank you; you've done what you did with the first SE, which is widely regarded as the best iPhone Apple has made.

When I got my 2018 iPad (I think it was the first with no home button, and Face ID) I absolutely hated it. I had to get this one because Apple replaced my previous model 3 times (!) and they all had pixel errors and other issues. So in the end they had to give me the latest model that just came out.

At the start it felt so weird, I was missing the home button and would always press it but it wasn't there.

In the mean time I have to say I've gotten used to it and I prefer it.

I would probably get used to it on the iPhone as well. I think it has mostly advantages:

- The screen is much bigger! The 13 mini is almost identical in size to the 2016 SE, but the screen is much, much bigger! That is a huge bonus.
- It works more often. Sometimes you have wet hands or something, touch ID is pretty annoying in that setting

The only downside I see my be privacy, but the data is kept on your phone, so it's okay I guess. Same goes for your fingerprint, though.

But if you want such a phone with the Home Button and touch ID, you have the current iPhone SE. It's approximately the same size but has these features. Imo it's too expensive for what it is, especially compared to the 13 mini.

The current SE has the stupid rounded edges, so... no deal. And Apple sells plenty of phones that are the size of a cafeteria tray, providing plenty of options for those who want a bigger screen.

Dear Apple,

- take the iPhone 13 mini case
- put the best and newest hardware in it
- thank you

Took wife to Apple store on weekend.
Played with iPhone 15 pro titanium, light and 'small'

Nope, too big for her tiny hands :(

She's sticking with the 12 mini and I'm stuck with idiot lightning cables in the house.

SE4 moving to iPhone 15 regular sizing, sucks.

I've grudgingly accepted that my SE3 is probably going to be the last touch ID iphone I get to enjoy 😢 I guess I can live with face ID if the SE4 is small enough. I'm coming around to the idea of reusing the 13 mini body and I'm kicking myself for trading in my 13 mini last year. A 13 mini or even 11 pro body would be great, 5.8 is manageable but 6.1 is just too big. I have a bad feeling it's going to be another 6.1 incher though which would just be stupid as it would cut into their standard iphone sales too much. Unless... they're planning to cut the regular iphone models and only offer the pros and the SEs going forward.

Or Apple could just stop pretending that they're fooling anyone with the "camera bumps" into thinking the phone is thinner than it is. Just bring the back out flush with the camera lenses, and use the extra volume for battery.

But nooooo, infants would whine about it.
