iPhone SE Confirmed - NOT BUYING

I just had to share my thoughts on this. This 4" display is unapologetically bad to text on.

Its time for you to work on your typing skills...

Wonder what ppl did few years ago when 3.5" - 4" screens was the standard?

SE is the worst product Apple has ever released as its the oldest.

Apple using a press conference to show off a 5S case is embarrassing.

Well OP even though it isn't for me since I have been using at least 5" displays for quite awhile now, I'm still going to check it out.

All I will say is my eye doctor is going to love Apple coming back out with a 4" display again. His ride is a Ferrari, he'll be able to buy another now with all the folks coming in after squinting again going back to that size if they have been using something larger! :)

I type much better on my 5s than on my 6s (can't wait to get SE)...6s requires careful handling as is slippery as a snake and definitely two hands typing. 5s I use all with one hand and is non-slippery. btw I never use cases as they make phones ugly and bulky. Never dropped a phone except once when I had samsung Note 2.

says you but not 37-47% of apple iPhone users who prefer 'timeless' design of 5s with improved specs off course. I can use 5s design infinity.

I think its the newest product Apple has ever released, not the oldest. Well, equal-newest with the new smaller iPad Pro.

And if you do think that's the worst product Apple has ever released, you've not been around these parts very long....

Maybe you are right. But someone likes to use the phone in one hand,iPhone SE is the the most flexible and powerful.Just like my girlfriend, she thinks SE is perfect fit to her.

Others may disagree with you, as I do, but you're entitled to your opinion. I prefer the thicker phone and the iconic design, much more then what the 6s has

There's a large segment of folks who like the 5s design, but again, its personal preference.

One shouldn't forget that a lot of people do most of their texting with dictation now. I definitely have switched into this camp.

No matter the screen size, very little is faster and easier than dictating things for me.

Really? Tbh, I see most people continuing to typing into the phones, clearly I cannot discern those who are talking into the phones are dictating a text message, but on the other hand, I see way too many people typing. I don't think dictation is a major way of texting right now.

Fair point to ponder...

It is good to consider and remember all the use cases that we aren't able to easily observe (in homes, offices, cars, Siri usage).

Publics settings are the easiest to observe and also the most likely to feature typing on phone text entry.

At least you have 4.7" display to work with - going back down to a 4" display really was an awful experience for me.
[doublepost=1459049417][/doublepost]Worse experience was I forgot how having a 4" display sucked. I use two hands to hold the damn thing cause it was tethered to a card reader. But that's not the problem - it was my thumb which covered maybe 3 characters width. You gotta pivot your thumb's TIP to hit the right key. Jesus, one handed use? I don't think so unless you got thumbs of a 2 year old.

But then you have to deal with the bigger chassis. It's all a concession. You make no point that's of value here.

Apple needs to add swipe ability on the keyboard. Googles stock keyboard on Android is so much nicer to type on.
Umm. I use Google stock keyboard for a while, and I find it is harder to use than iOS standard keyboard. Maybe I prefer to type each letter, rather than swiping through the letters.
[doublepost=1459090854][/doublepost]I have an iPhone 4, and the screen is even smaller than iPhone SE. And then? I still use it very happily although its battery is showing the age, plus the software (stuck at iOS 7.1.2). I do agree that typing on it is not so pleasant. But then I can type it one-handed. This is a risky task when typing using only one hand on my current iPhone 6s Plus.

Despite that, there are still so many women who prefer a smaller phone to fit their generally smaller hands. They often buy 4.7" ones, and now here is SE. We can all expect Apple will sell SE very well, thanks to such a large group of potential customer.

iphone SE to me better for stuff like social messaging apps [whatsapp line messenger etc] which is how i see the 4 inch factor and the 1hand usability kicks in for most part. For actual content [viewing video + playing games...] leave that one out l0lz haha...

THAT BEING SAID..... I am not Dissing the iPhone SE. I could see myself winging both the SE and the 6s+ both in rose gold variants depending on my needs.

I honestly could never go back to low res tiny 4" screen of the iPhone SE, but I can see how people value it for one hand use and overall convenience. It's just that my 6S+ is so great that I barely use my laptop anymore unless I want to play a game or do some heavy duty multi tasking.

Who calls on their phone all the time? I mostly text / whatsapp and for that a bigger screen is better.

I still have the iPhone 5S which is still fast enough in 2016, but my iPhone 6S plus gets used 100% of the time.

I bought an iPhone 6S a few months ago (January ). If Apple had the iPhone SE launched last Christmas, I would have bought that for sure.
The smartphone for me is a smartphone : a compact advanced device. When I need screen estate I use my iPad. If I need more I have my MacBook Pro.

I like my iPhone 6S, the best iPhone so far, but when I use my wife's iPhone 5S I really enjoy its dimensions.

This phone was always for a certain type of user, for a budget price it's very Imprressive.
budget price ? ugh it's €509 (€ 609 for the 64 Gb version) here in Italy o_O
Cheaper than the 6S for sure, bud hardly a "budget price" (it's about 399 / 478 £, or $577 / $690).

When the 5 came out I upgraded because it had a lot of new features and was faster, but I wasn't a big fan of the screen size. I've adjusted to that with time, but its still my biggest bugbear about the phone. So when I learned there's a 4" version coming out with the performance of a 6S and most of the functionality, it was a no brainer for me.

I like my phone to be a phone first and foremost - not an oversized mobile and certainly not something bordering on an iPad Mini - I still remain genuinely amazed by the size of some phones these days but understand its all about choice. I prefer one I can put comfortably in my pocket, use one handed at times and a bigger screen size really isn't a must for me. I realise everyone's different, but I have lots of way to do proper work on the move depending on the circumstances - iPad, MacBook, iMac at an office etc.

I totally get that some people prefer and even need the bigger screens, but its just not for me. And if you look at the sales figures and people hanging on to smaller iPhones rather than upgrading, people can't deny there's a market out there for an updated smaller iPhone. That doesn't make it a bad product.
