They don't seem to be hard to find around here (I'm in Canada). A coworker of mine had his old iPhone 5 die on him, and he literally just went out during his lunch break and came back with an SE. Even had it fully restored from his backup already.

64gb? If so that's awesome. The 16gb has been a walk in device since about a week after launch around here. 64 less so.

The 64 GB is very scarce. Also go and look on eBay or even Craigslist. The resale on them is $100 over retail in most cases. I don't really understand why, but it is...

Still showing "unavailable for pickup" in all carrier/color/capacity options at stores near my home. SIM-unlocked shows "deliver to store".

If this is the level of availability after 2 whole months, Tim Cook has failed, lol.

I think some of the walk-in sales are of people buying the phones and looking to sell them for modest (or higher) profit thru whatever channels.

And when there is plenty of stock available "The product failed," or "Apple is failing."

o_O Damned if ya do; damned if ya don't. o_O

Item can't be found in the store. People want it. Resellers mark it up. Name of the game really :/

I was able to get a brand new 16gb for my son for $300. It was a no brainer.

Yes definitely $300 for a phone with flagship specs I would have jumped on it too.

Anybody know when the APPLE STORE APP refreshes its stock for each store?

Random? Overnight? 10AM?

I'm not sure how reliable the information is on the Apple website regarding whether the SE is available at a particular store. I've been tracking inventory online (because I live over 100 miles from the nearest Apple store). Was in a major city over the Memorial Day weekend and hoping to get the new SE. When I looked online, it said there was availability at the store on Friday. On Saturday morning, it said there was no availability. I decided to go in anyway and I asked the sales rep at the Apple Store if they had SE's in stock and they had 5 in the model I wanted.

I think if the iPhone Trade-Up program was available online I would have done that already.

Buy the SE online... Take the phone to the Apple store when you receive the package. Tell them you want to trade in your old phone and apply it to the SE. They'll process a refund on the SE online order then sell you the same phone in store with the trade up.

I was thinking the same thing.....or even better ship-to-store and have them do the same thing when you go pick it up. Any problems and they will still have the phone in their possession.

+1 to the Target answer. Totally surprised my wife that I was able to get one there for her. She was bawling her eyes out that she couldn't find one at any local Apple Store for her daughter. Actually bought two (one for her and one for her daughter), in the preferred color and capacity, at two different Targets. One for her and one for her daughter. Target takes trade-ins, and while I forget the exact amount of the trade, the AT&T Next (since we're on AT&T) ended up being $12.50 for 28 months.
Seriously, we just walked in, and they had them available.

Just gotta keep checking. Apple Online inventory is live. Checked multiple times yesterday and at about 3pm, a store in my area (SF), showed the exact model I wanted was in stock. No other colors, no other carriers. Just a gold AT&T 64GB :)

I can't believe that the SE is still in short supply. I walked in to my local Apple Store on launch morning and I was first in line to buy it there. There wasn't any lineup at the time. They had all colors and carriers available. Did an in store trade-in on my old 4s and was out the door in ten minutes.

Now I look and most local Apple Stores (LA metro area) are out of stock on 64GB models. Talk about being a sleeper hit.

I'm so glad I jumped on it early before people realized what a bargain it was compared to the other models.

I ordered my SE on apple.com on May 19. It finally moved from "Processing" to "Preparing to Ship" this morning. Hopefully Preparing to Ship means today or Monday. This is definitely the longest I've waited for an apple product but it is exactly the time frame they promised when I hit the order button so that's good.

I'm actually starting to think I have a problem. I am LITERALLY checking the Apple Store app every few hours.

My local Apple Store has only been getting restocks of Silver and Rose Gold 64GB.

I JUST WANT SPACE GRAY!!!!!!

For how much people hated on this phone, it's sold very well. I for one would love to get one, but since it is a little too small for me, I won't be doing that.

Good luck on finding one though. They are still completely out of stock for the next 2-3 weeks at my local stores as well.

This phone was a sleeper hit. At first everyone thought it was an iPhone 5c all over as far as sales goes, but I think Apple has something with this one. Hopefully it ends up getting updated yearly as well. That way there will be two iPhone updates per year instead of one

Had you followed rijc99 and dcpmark advice at the beginning, you would have been done with this whole ordeal.

If you still haven't done so by now, you're just being stubborn.

The Targets in my area have them, but they are marked up by $50 over Apple retail. They basically can't be found in the Bay Area except maybe the rose gold.

I wanted to wait a month or two before upgrading just in case there were issues with the hardware. 2 months after launch, there's no inventory.

At this point I'm saying eff it, my iPhone 5 still works great, so I'm not even going to bother.

1. If they just commented this past Thursday how would I have known their advice 2 months ago?

2. I'm being cautious not stubborn. I don't want to put $500-$750 on my credit card and for some bizarre reason have Apple tell me I can't return the phone.
