I like the call for a spring 2018 update with 7s components and increased battery capacity (like the SE delivered over the 5s)....

Personally a fingerprint scanner on the back of a phone makes me want to hurl. Each to their own, though; the difference is, you won't see us moaning about that on Android forums.

I like it. Unlock your phone before its out of your pocket with ease. No stretching your thumb (since you hold the phone in the middle, and have to stretch to the bottom). Index finger to unlock on the back requires a natural movement of the index finger, once again without stretching the thumb.

Had a 6P for a while, it was perfect. Only slightly annoying picking the phone up to use it on a desk, but I think that was more because the phone was so heavy. When I wanted to just check the time or notifications I hit the power button, wasn't a problem. I don't typically use the phone while keeping it resting flat on the desk, I always pick it up, so I don't see the benefit of having it on the front.

Regarding a new 4" iPhone: i hope that next year, when a "iPhone 8s" will be released, there will also be a new ca. 4.6" phone with the same footprint as a 5/SE but with a "full screen" like the "8" most likely will.

After using the 4.7" iPhone for several years, it's still too big for me. I wish Apple would keep the 4.7" size and cut the forehead and chin off.

I think Apple will retain the 4.7 iPhone. To me, it's perfect size iPhone. It's not to large or to small. It's amazing how much of an inch can make when handling a phone or for what's comfortable for different uses.

It's the best design Apple ever created for a "smartphone," per se. The width of that device was specifically chosen to be comfortable in, and operable with, the average human hand. The choice to make them bigger was purely market driven. The newer devices at larger sizes are better for watching video, reading books, and accommodating larger hands; but for general usage— making a phone call, using an app, sticking it back in your pocket— you can't beat that 4" form factor... it just feels awesome. I would also posit that it has a more "luxury" oriented aesthetic than the 6/7 design.

Agreed. The SE is my favourite iPhone to date. My girlfriend has the 6S, and the only differences between our phones is that her's has 3D Touch and a larger screen. Everything else is identical between the two phones. She's always using mine for her games. She prefers it.

Looks like Apple ran out of 2012 iPhone 5 spare parts.

Yah, keep going there, you're on a roll. *applause*

The SE does not have 2012 internals, it's a snappy, powerful device.

No different than iPad 2017 using spare parts from original ipad Air. Better for the environment to recycle and cheaper for consumers.

I'm hoping for an iPhone SE with 7s internals. That would be my new iPhone. Love my SE much more than I ever liked the iPhone 6.

Me too! I hope they keep the line alive with previous gen internals and headphone jack. I prefer the smaller phone anyway. I honestly don't feel the need to upgrade from my 5s yet, but a new SE might convince me!

So wait, how exactly were the serials validated? For a company being green, what a waste sending stuff back and forth cause no one had initiative to open a box and validate visually.

If true, This is actually really good news for one of the best iPhones on the market for the current price point. Perhaps it cost more to repair it versus then it does replace it, being when you factor in the overall $400.00 cost of the iPhone SE.

Agreed. Its looking like my next phone. 1K plus is no longer value in a smartphone. The SE has the best form factor and gimmick free.

The only other difference is gen1 touch ID vs gen2 in the 6S

Snitch.
So difficult for a provisioning/logistics and marketing guru to predict demand of a 5 year old form factor...?

If Apple stops making iPhone SE sized devices I will simply buy a few SEs and keep them around. I just refuse to buy anything bigger. One-handed use used to be a selling point, Jobs always emphasized one-handed use to be essential in a good phone. I hate the huge phone trend. Its also not nice that Apple are treating the SE as the budget option. I'd like an SE sized phone with the same damn specs and capabilities more or less as your flagship. Why can't you do that, Apple? Its not as if people buy it purely for the price. People buy it mainly for the gorgeous smaller design, people who don't watch Netflix series episodes back to back. If they priced it similarly to their other phones those units would still sell just as well.
