What's "lazy" about what Apple is doing? They're going after additional market share while simultaneously appeasing an existing segment of their customer base.

Sounds more like "being smart" to me.

Do you really think Apple put any effort on this iPhone SE? Apple is bascially reusing 4 years old design, 4 years old screen for God's sake. Nothing is new for this phone, it is bascially a iPhone 5S casing and screen with iPhone 6S components minus 3D Touch... What smart is that Apple can do this relative cheaply and quickly. There is no production challenges and it can produce tons of this phone in relatively short period of time.

iPhone SE will only be appealing for Apple fans that looking for smaller screen.. Seriously take look at competitive landscape, you have lots of better choice than iPhone SE for same price.

For me, iPhone SE is just Apple's lazy way to response 4 inch market. Apple did not even bother to do a new design.

They did it that way so that it could cost less and be a good entry level model, which was part of the point behind this model. Seems like they accomplished what they were after.

If they did a new design, they would have to raise the price. By continuing with the 5S form factor they can use existing processes and techniques already in place. It's not being lazy...it's being economical in order to accomplish a purpose.

I think you're misunderstanding what that purpose is. The SE is targeted mainly at the 30% of iOS users who currently use a 4" screen or smaller. There are two major reasons people are in this segment. 1.) they don't want a bigger phone and/or 2.) they don't want to pay flagship prices.

The only way Apple could appease this population of users (and simultaneously attract mid-tier android and Windows phone users) is to make exactly what they made; a 4 inch phone that performs at a high end, yet is inexpensive. That is impossible to do if you start for scratch like you're suggesting Apple should have done.

Apple sold 30 million totally outdated handsets last year because people want a manageable sized phone.

I'm glad they woke up. I hope the 7S see's them fully correct their error by having a family of devices that share the same design.

They've also got a lot of backlash from people who tell them the 6 series is just plain ugly. But todays Apple are cowards and rather than design something new, they just stuck with something they know people like the design of.

Hmm ... how can I whinge enough to get Apple to release a new G4 cube?

The SE exists because a large number of people want a smaller iPhone and are willing to compromise on screensize to get that.

AND because it's the best design EVER....in my own personal.opinion.
