OK, how about "stock manipulation"

Does that sound better
LOL - true that. These ***** analysts are top of the broth scum. They do nothing better than to short a stock with their BS and then the same people to buy up the stock and repeat the same tactics to make millions. Stock market is nothing more than legal gambling casino for Wall Street rapists. they guys are just the root of all evil in this world...sneaky snakes that care only about money and would sell their own mom out for a buck.

Agreed. The 6/6+ was dated design wise when it appeared, doubly so with the S range. If they released a 7 with not massively reduced chin/forehead, I'll laugh and give it a pass regardless of what's inside of it. Actually, I'll be passing anyway, sticking to S cycle now, the only times I've felt burnt with iPhones has been the non-S cycle.

Absolutely agreed. And about the S cycle - that's what I'm also holding out for I learned about 1st gen Apple new products. LOL.

It's probably cheaper to get a used ip5. The people who care about specs would have moved onto the 6 by now, and the people who don't care about specs probably care more about the cost. I'm not terribly surprised by this report though.

When Apple finally decided to listen that customers wanted a 4" screen. They did listen and only made a phone on 4 inch display. Geez, Apple! People needs at least a different look, like the iPhone 6.

If you think that every person in the world can afford a high-end phone every one or two years, you are the one living in a bubble.

Apple doesn't care for the sub-$200 low end market, but they are losing ground in the sub-$500 market, which is way bigger than the high-end market. That is what the SE is for.

The SE won't compete with the 7 when it's released, it competes with you when you try to sell your 6s.

Sure they can, it's only what about $25-30/month give or take? Buying a SE full price seems like a waste versus just financing a flagship with much better specs. But it's already been established that many would choose the SE because of it's size and not it's specs.

I'm one of those people who would have got the SE but upgraded my 5 to 6s in December because there wasn't a decent 4" option.

They missed the window of opportunity with me, my wife and quite a few of our mates. We've already spent our shekels and won't be doing that again for some time...unless they release a killer new MBP this summer.

Hmm...6/6+ was 'dated on release'? Compared with what?

Not sure why people are chasing a new design - different materials (glass, metal, plastic) have all been tried, as have straight and curved edges. Ok, bezels could be a bit smaller but I don't see much else Apple can do that hasn't already been tried?

The smart people still have an iPhone 5S. Thing is, if I had a 5s, I am not sure that I would want an SE. I mean, pay to struggle with 16gb? You can barely get stock iOS apps with 16gb. Let alone take a few photos. Why would I pay to upgrade to a phone that looks the same with so little space?

Moving pictures? I can just take a video, and take pictures during the video. Huh?

I'll go out on a limb and suggest people ultimately wanted a 4.7" screen in the nicer 5s form factor.

In other words, the best of both phones.

One handed usability on the iPhone 6/6s really isn't hampered much by the size but rather the slippery rounded edges.

I am still using my iphone 5. I am interested in the SE and may look at it some day, but I am not in any hurry to upgrade either. So my guess is that the likely target market for the SE are folks that don't jump on every new model the weekend it is released. So not a lot of short term demand, but lots of long term sale's potential, at the bottom of the iphone market for those us that are very price motivated.

Would of done better if they changed the chassis up a bit.. while it may be all new inside, consumers will view it as old. The average consumer will recognize this device as being outdated as the iPhone 6 has a larger screen and new form factor. They should of made it look "new".

It IS an old phone. It lacks the newest flagship features and even inexplicably uses the older sensor touch print reader. The design is fine, the problem is the internals.

If the SE had a 128gb option I would have bought one. I'm right at the 64gb limit on my 6, and at this point space is more important than size.

Well I'll go on record saying I'm a bit surprised. Given the positive energy on the boards about what a great little device (and the pricing) the SE was - I expected sales out of the gate to be better. But it's still early. I have a feeling that those on legacy iPhones and/or those in contract with other devices may boost sales considerably.

Just the bezels. My even then age old Galaxy Note 1 was notably smaller physically, beyond the fact it was 5.3" and slightly different ratio at 1280x800.

I quite like the 6 designs, but it could be better in regard to bezels. I suspect Ive is so obsessed with symmetry he wouldn't even have contemplated an unmatching forehead above the Touch ID chin. There were a couple of suspect HTC phones around then that had a smaller forehead than chin, looked fine. I;m not that fussed about design for the sake of it, but a smaller form factor with same size screen would unquestionably be better (assuming similar battery life- unlikely I know).

That said, I'm quite accustomed to a lot of one handed operation of my 6S+ with my average sized hands.

iPhone SE orders lower than previously released models....you don't say. I wasn't expecting to see a huge rush to get this device. People who were hardcore fans are probably the ones who would be first to purchase. Those that are looking to upgrade from their 5S will now have an option to retain the smaller size while getting upgraded specs. Since this is an off cycle update I'm sure people are stuck in their contracts if they signed up for one.

Well, the 64GB is sold out everywhere here in the UK. The 16GB? There are still plenty around. I think the SE will do well, but the higher model only.

Apple releases small phone 6 months after big phone, less people buy, surprise is had?
i am not surprised. there are many "shallow" ppl (myself included) who just dont wanna fork out money to the same looking device twice.

however it makes no real sense to compare those numbers anyway

I thought about it and I was like, Wait a minute. iPhone SE? This ain't nothing new. This is an updated iPhone 5s. A new phone is supposed to have a new design.

Then I told people not to buy it.

If the sales are "lackluster", it's because there wasn't enough stock on hand.

I'm in a major metropolitan area and stock of 64GB SEs at Apple Stores is zero. 16GB devices were still available this weekend, but supply has gone down quite a bit as of this morning.

Can't sell what's not on the shelves.

I'd buy it if I didn't already have an iPhone. I imagine anyone who dislikes the big screen already gave up and bought an iPhone with a big screen, or they kept their old iPhones that are basically the same as the SE and have no reason to upgrade. And I doubt anyone switched to Android for a smaller screen. So if it ever sells well, it'll be later.

I don't buy it. In California, anyway, where I've been trying to locate a store at which to buy one, they are all sold out. In Emeryville, they sold out their initial stock of 200 on the first day. If they haven't sold many domestically, it's because of constrained supply.

I could live with the 5 like design, but I'm not going to spend $500 on last year's technology and I'm not going to buy an iPhablet at any price. I'm going to just hold on to my 5S until Apple gets unstupid and releases 4" versions of the latest iPhone along with the iPhablet versions.
