IMO the SE screen isn't starkly inferior to the 6 (not talking specs, I am talking actually, admittedly subjective, real world use by me). The biggest difference I notice (when I look for it) is viewing angles, but I don't really see a need to ever be watching at an angle anyway so... not bothered.

Seems like one handed use is at the top of your list. I use my phones way too much for web browsing and reading/writing emails, and viewing the news. Bought my son an SE as a media player (price point was also a factor) and we are rather impressed with it. He watches his youtube in the car and we are all happy. Wife is still deciding whether she wants to replace her 6s with this.

I just got an SE for my son but price point was a large deciding factor. Had they dropped the 6 in price heavily I'd have gone that route. It was purchased for media consumption (videos).

What does your son do? You'll absolutely notice performance increases doing certain things go like multi tabbed Web browsing and just multitasking in general. Some games will likely load faster but we won't likely see games tailor built for the 2gb ram and better processor for a few years yet.

IMO the SE isn't worth dumping a 6 over unless screen size (it being too big) was a concern.

He already has a 6. He wants to make a change to his current situation.

It's all relative as to what a "step back" is but technologically speaking the SE is a step forward from the 6 in almost every way, unless larger screens are of highest value to you.

Power wise, the 5s is a good and more fair comparison to the 6, whereas the SE is a very fair and pretty much even comparison to the 6s

So do you value features or do you value the speed of chips (how fast the device runs) and how much ram it has?

My own opinion is that the SE is a better device than the 6 but I'm someone who likes having faster chips and more ram when the option is there.

He plays some games...watches video, surfs the web etc. I bet he will want a 7 when it comes out. I would get him that if he would just wait. My mom still has her old 6s. I'm trying to get it so he can test it out.

SE

No barometer (SE users reporting they aren't seeing elevation data in the health app)
No taptic engine
No 3D touch
Slow touch ID (first generation)
No 128 gb option
No LTE advanced
No 5 megapixel facetime camera

Also the SE screen is completely interchangeable with the 5S , so you are basically buying screen technology that was first introduced nearly 3 years ago.

There have also been multiple reports of loose power buttons. It's crazy apple haven't sorted this issue out yet, i had this problem all the way back with the iphone 5

Other than the 128GB the iPhone 6 doesn't have these things either. Your bias against the SE means that you aren't reading the question.

Is the 6 passed the return period?
Yes. It is my phone from launch. He bought it from me when I got my 6splus.
[doublepost=1459867484][/doublepost]Well...for the moment, I told him to negotiate with my mom when he sees her tomorrow. I'm sure she will give him a deal on her old 5s that my brother hasn't sold for her yet. Then I think he can get an idea of what he likes.
