iPhone Seems to be Uploading Non-existent Photos

For no reason I can ascertain, my iPhone is currently uploading 91 photos and I only have 16. Yesterday, it said it was uploading 247.

Where are they uploading, why, and how do I stop it?

Check your recently deleted folder? Even if you take a photo and immediately delete it, it will still upload to iCloud Photo Library. It won't count against your storage, but still stick around for 30 days in case you change your mind about deleting it.

Did you take a long burst, then delete it? That would certainly cause what you saw.

I had no idea that the trash didn't delete entirely on the iPhone.

There were 1,104 in the trash. Past tense. 🙂
