"The analyst also estimates that the iPhone 5c and iPhone 4S will experience quarter-over-quarter growth in Q1 2015 before Apple ceases production of both phones during the year. "

Buy it now or never again at reasonable prices.

Is that the iPhone 6 Plus that Ming Chi Kuo said was going to be delayed until 2015 due to 'production issues'. Either Apple have perfected time travel technology and are importing phones from the future or Kuo is a terrible analyst.

So true, don't know why everyone believes what Ming Chi Kuo says as if it's the word of God. Seems to be more wrong than right.

Apple's stock won't take a dump because it will meet sales projections. There is clearly still demand for the phone. There is still upside to gaining Android users, some previous iPhone users who left for larger Android devices will return, and less iPhone users will change to Android simply to get a larger screen.

Also, there is more to the iPhone than the bigger size: NFC (Apple Pay), health kit, processor, signal quality are all great features. I am glad Apple finally gave folks the larger screens (the 6 hits the sweet for me personally). Apple couldn't continue to cede that segment of the market to Samsung, HTC etc.

Coming from the 5, I am so happy to have Touch ID. It's great. This is by far the best iPhone yet (although I love the elegance of the 4 and 5 designs).

Not to get off track but how do I buy the version of phone pictured in the article?

My iPhone 6 Plus Space Grey looks nothing like that, especially the home button.

I just wanted the biggest iphone I could get :D

No ex android user here lol

I'm a former Android user, having used strictly Android phones since the G1 came out back in 2008. I switched to the iPhone 6 on release date and couldn't be happier. Of course, there are things that I miss about Android (the "back" button and notification light immediately come to mind), but the iPhone experience has been much less bumpy thus far.

I wonder if this shortage is due to the fact that two of the 6's I'd bought were defective.

Perhaps there was something seriously wrong with the first shipments.

Perhaps I'll be buying one again in January.

i read that 80 percent of the buyers of the iphone 6 and 6+ were previous iphone owners. so yes 20% are coming over from android, but clearly they weren't the only one that wanted bigger phones.

We'll never really know if people wanted big phones or just new phones because the only new phones were big phones.

You are probably right. However, as an anecdotal case in point -- I went to an AT&T store by my office (they did not have lines like the Apple store did) on the first Friday of availability. I had about 10 people in front of me and maybe 20 behind me by the time i got in the door. I saw 1 or 2 Samsung users, 3 or 4 iPhone 5s (including mine). The rest were iPhone 5c, 4s, 4, and 1 3G (where has this guy been?).

Clearly, most of these folks were upgrade eligible and decided to finally upgrade to the latest iPhone. An amazing percent (i would say 40%) were upgrading because their phones were falling apart (I have owned every iPhone and never once cracked a screen so this amazes me). And then there were the crazies like me that just had to get the latest iPhone whatever it is.

I talked to one guy who said he was getting the 6+ with 128gig. I asked why, what was his use case that required the bigger phone and the max memory. He said, "nothing, I am not even sure what that all means, but I am getting the biggest and I might as well max it out." So clearly some are even crazier than me.

That's just a crazy insane number of phones. Add this with the fact that October saw the highest ever total number of downloads from the App Store, and I think Apple is sitting pretty for the year.

These numbers are astronomical . How can you manufacture so much. 10m in the weekend. To put things into perspective, Nintendo still didn't sell 10m units of Wii U even after 2 YEARS of launch. The Wii U is even cheaper than an iphone.

Not sure how Apple can manufacture so much in so little time, with a constant guaranteed quality. To do this, I guess Apple already knows exactly what they will build in January so they do all the orderings and manufacturing until the release in October. That means by next January they know how the iphone 6s is exactly going to be.

A lot of phones, and for good reason - these are the best iPhones / Phones ever made.
A stupid line to be used by Apple at their events. Of course it is the best iPhone ever made, should we expect a new iPhone to be worse than the previous one?

Since the 4 series is the best looking phone and it makes calls great while fitting in your pocket, you could argue that the 4S is the best phone Apple has ever made. Hmm, is it worth dropping some cash to get my hands on one.

That is why the concept of just "bringing the jobs back to the U.S." is laughable. The US just isn't big enough to support the level of manufacturing that China is doing these days. Maybe if we re-educated 30 or 40 million people to join our existing manufacturing base (which, despite reports to the contrary, is huge and produces tons of high value items used by the rest of the world) we could bring back some electronics manufacturing. But the infrastructure to make 100,000s of iPhone every day is mind boggling.

we think more consumers will prefer iPhone 6 as they can operate the handset with one hand.
This is exactly my thinking on the numbers. Some people want the larger size for status, longer battery life, or just for a larger screen. I personally figure a larger screen is what you buy a tablet for, but maybe someday I'll change my position.
