Since the 4 series is the best looking phone and it makes calls great while fitting in your pocket, you could argue that the 4S is the best phone Apple has ever made. Hmm, is it worth dropping some cash to get my hands on one.

My 6 Plus fits in my pocket.

Easily.

Q what?

Is this story referencing Apple's Q4 and Q1 or the Calendar's Q4 and Q1? Not stating this makes the article very confusing.

These numbers are astronomical . How can you manufacture so much. 10m in the weekend. To put things into perspective, Nintendo still didn't sell 10m units of Wii U even after 2 YEARS of launch. The Wii U is even cheaper than an iphone.

Not sure how Apple can manufacture so much in so little time, with a constant guaranteed quality. To do this, I guess Apple already knows exactly what they will build in January so they do all the orderings and manufacturing until the release in October. That means by next January they know how the iphone 6s is exactly going to be.

It really is pretty insane how much they're selling when you put it in that perspective. They're selling these things with an average sale price of over $600 each, making a huge margin on each one sold, and have already sold more in a couple months than Sony, MS, and Nintendo have combined for their consoles (consoles which they barely break even or lose money on for each unit sold).

Apple is on some next level stuff never before seen in the market. Wonder how long it will take them to be worth $1 trillion.

Calendar Q4 and Q1.

A stupid line to be used by Apple at their events. Of course it is the best iPhone ever made, should we expect a new iPhone to be worse than the previous one?

I liked the latter part of that line - best Phones. Well the 6/+ designs are closer to the 3G than the 4 or 5.

Where can I get a subsidized Wii U?

Where can I get a subsidized Wii U?

There's NOTHING subsidized, unless you think a 23% interest per year loan is "subsidized"... Do the math yourself if you don't believe me.

The word "subsidized" exists because "expensive loan" is a less catching term for what their doing... Try walking away from them before your contract expires to see if what you received was truly a "gift".

Do you expect them to not hype up their newest product? Its a stupid line, but marketers make their money off stupid lines.

More like interest free loan these days from AT&T. Their new plan, that is. Also, I did walk away from my contract on my 4S s couple years back. I had to pay off the contract, yes, but it was hardly paying more than if I was paying off the remainder of what the phone cost.

Edit: Also, it was still a subsidy.

You've got some big pockets.

Once I put a case on my 6, it got large enough that I'd say it doesn't easily fit into front jean pockets. It certainly fits and that is where I carry it. But under my definition of easily (which is just an opinion) it doesn't quite do it. I haven't tired to pocket at 6+ in my jeans yet. Though if one is wearing slacks or a suit the 6+ should fit okay. And of course in the winter you can put either size in a coat pocket easily.

Anyway, to each their own. For a phone, I'd rather have a smaller device. Of course since we rarely use our smartphones as phones, the tradeoff is worth it. Since I need to carry two phones during most of the day for two phone numbers, I'm more sensitive to pocketability.

Some day, I suspect, Apple will carry flagship phones in three sizes. They carry two sizes now and as Apple captures more market shares I see value in them offering another flagship phone in the 5-model size.

Well, around I have to take the $75 dollar plan while I'm on a $49 dollar plan right now which has everything the same except 3GB more of data that I don't need.

$624 (26*24) + $265 = $893 (off contract price is $749)

So, I'm paying $624 for $487, you can guess that this is NOT 0% interest.
That's about 1.95% per month interest.

If I actually needed, the extra data it would tend towards a 0% loan, but not quite.

BTW, that's the definition of subsidize (not even the main one) "pay part of the cost of producing (something) to reduce prices for the buyer."

Example : subsidized housing, subsidized food, etc.

So, were do telecoms company actually pay anything? You have to give all the money back and more. So, indeed THERE IS NO SUBSIDY. You can believe the marketing crap that abuses the English language those companies shove in your gullible ears if you want, but that's all you.

You can praise products without using an almost tautology. And repeating the very same phrase for probably three dozens of new products (the best iPad, the best Macbook Pro, etc.) in the last decade becomes repetitive.

Calendar Q4 and Q1.

I think Apple stock is going to fall. They cant stay on top forever. Its called a trend. There are ups and downs, they will not infinitely grow. They will slip up somewhere, or a new competitor will come out that will eat out of their market share like it happened with all the companies.

Where can I get a subsidized Wii U?

I am sure there is somewhere a business out there that is willing to accept monthly payments for commercial product but for a higher price of course.

Don't forget. A Wii U will last you at least another 3 years while the iPhone will be outdated next September.

I guess they do that to capture the attention of the consumer, its an "IPHONE" and its "THE BEST ONE MADE"

thats a lot more attention grabbing than saying "Our new iPhones got 2GB RAM"

Well yeah of course you can praise products in different ways, but ridiculous buzzwords and overhype is what marketing is.

Can you give an example of a product that's praised without crazy overture?

There is a subtle difference between:
  1. This is the best phone on the market, and
  2. This is the best iPhone we ever made.

The first one might be highly subjective and hyperbolic but it is nevertheless a statement that has a meaning (whether the statement is correct or not). The second one carries almost no meaning, like saying the river still flows down this valley, it hasn't reversed course.

The second one implies your very proud of the phone you made. That's how I take it. Like a skilled craftsman would show off his wares; saying its the best on the market is a given, he only has himself to beat...

Again, there is a difference between:
  1. This is our best phone, and
  2. This is best phone ever.
Only if there is a chance of things moving downwards as well as upwards, does it makes sense to use the adverb 'ever'. It can be their best quarter ever, or it can the best vintage for a certain wine ever. Using the term 'ever' means that not only have things improved compared with last year (for things like iPhones or wine that is produced on an annual cycle) but it also exceeds the best year on record.

I get it. My point is its marketing. That's what marketing is. Nonsense buzzwords and hype especially when it comes to tablets and smartphones.

Trying to dissect the virtue of marketing seems like a lost and pointless cause.

In the smartphone and tablet space stupid marketing is king.

All I know is they're pretty sexy phones. So thin, easy to get your hand around. And the screens are so slippery, you just want to keep touching them.

And look at them.

I know people who are happy watching movies on their 6, not even 6Plus, when they have an iPad just a few feet away.

Tim stands up there and smiles and says something like beautiful new screens, and you have no idea until you actually touch one.

Good thing I feel that way… got to last me 2 years.

I had to wait in line to get served at an Apple Store recently. There were people lined up out the door. Er, sorry. Got a new shipment of iPhones and we're a bit busy. Months after release…

As for the topic - imagine how many phones Apple could sell, if it could match demand. Once the manufacturing catches up, I'm sure we'll see a lot more Pluses being sold. Then maybe we'll know what the ratio really is.

Right now, we have no idea what the real demand is. All we really know is that Apple can't make them fast enough.

Who cares ?

People care about what Steve Jobs would think because he was the one who pulled Apple out of the pile of SKUs and products in the late nineties.

Jobs threw out 30 Apple products and categories and decided on only: laptops/desktops/consumer/professional

Apple has been growing like crazy and that eventually is going to trickle down to all their product lines which had also grown. Everyone is petrified that Apple is returning to the Apple that needed saving before Jobs returned. Of course everyone is also falsely assuming that only Jobs is capable of cutting extraneous products and saying no. Cook has already demonstrated that he can grow the company and cut out bad products at the same time.
