Ok Folks, I got it to work on Suncom, for all my friends in the carolinas with Unplans. IPhone+ unlimited minutes for 50 a month- you can't beat that!

My method:

Restore to newest software (itunes, phone)
jailbreak/activate/install ssh
used fugu to copy over the gui app to apps folder on iphone
ran gui app from phone
reset with new sim
reactivate with new sim

I kept getting an error message that I had an incorrect iccid. I kept putting in the one from the box but that didn't work. I went to general settings/about and found a different iccid- input that and everything else is history.

Unlocked for T-Mobile (US)

Well, I am SOOO Happy to say that I Unlocked my Refurb 8GB iPhone for Free!
Here is what I Used to do it:

Guide: http://iphone.unlock.no
OS: I Unlocked on Windows 2003 Server (Its always been easier for me to hack using Windows)
Carrier: T-Mobile
Data Plan: I have the 19.99 data plan
Edge Internet: wap.voicestream.com
YouTube: Not working, but i really dont care to use it

This unlock procedure was very step by step, and took a little over an hour, but it was Definitely worth every bit of it.
I purchased my 8GB Refurb iPhone last friday, received it Monday, unlocked it Wednesday. All for $379 total. Not too bad.

Ok I am a total total nubie at this stuff, I bought an iphone off the shelf today and went through this one
http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.ph...ck_OS_X_Part_1

only thing is the phone has been stuff on the apptapp installer for over 30 mins! Does that sound right? Did I do something wrong? I made sure that the jailbreak was a success. Thanks folks I am really excited about this!

unlocked on unicel

I followed the steps from modmyiphone and it worked like a dream. I am now using an iphone on my backwater cell phone company unicel

Sim switching - need a way to save GPRS profiles for each SIM

This is great - I'll be over from NZ soon to pick one of these up and use over here. But, let me make a plea for an app in the near future.

A lot of cellphones have the ability to save a 'profile' for each of your GPRS access providers. Let's say you have several SIMS - e.g. in Europe - you travel a lot and don't want to rack up roaming charges so so switch to the local country SIM card you have in your wallet.

So, other cellphones have the ability to save you APN, user, password for each provider under different profiles. SO, when you switch SIM card, you just switch profile to match the SIM, and you cellphone knows which settings to use.

Does the iPhone have this built in? I'm guesing not as it was built by Apple as a device specifically tied to onely one provider, rather than most other cellphones which are build 'vanilla' or with generic settings and then locked (sometimes) by the provider to their own network.

So, as well as breaking the network lock (which is great and I am grateful), I wonder if some bright team could develop a way of storing different GPRS profiles saving you from entering them afresh each time?

Unlocked GUI Worked Fine

just got the unlock gui to work after jailbreaking with ifuntastic.

Tested with t-mobile uk card and calls worked fine. haven't tested edge yet but i'm off to bed

something is wrong there..the same thing happened to me, and I needed to start from step one. When I say step 1, I mean a fresh reinstall of the firmware then going thru independent again. it again, just be patient. Installing the apptapp should only take 5 Min max..good lord its tough to type on the iPhone

Thanks! This is the third time and it still is taking very long, is there another program I could try? I really wanna get this done tonight!! Thanks!!!@!!

App Tapp Woes

Does App Tapp Download files when installing? (from the net, that is).

I'm trying to installing this evening; however, it has been "installing" for over 25 min!!

I can only assume the file server is being hammered.

(phone has been updated to 1.02, activated, and jailbroke).

App Tapp Installed ...

The trick is to quick independance before starting the App Tapp Installer...

Sorry for the crappy picture, I took it with my iSight.

Used this guide
: Click me. It's not hard, just read carefully thru it people. I had everything done in about 1 hour.

OS: Mac OS X

Carrier: T-mobile

Data Plan: I have the 19.99 blackberry data plan.

Edge Internet: wap.voicestream.com

You Tube: Not working, I'm too hesitant to use the other guide because it might screw-up the unlock, so I'll wait.

Nice one! glad you got it going

the easy way

jailbreak the phone run install.app for the required packages then download the GUI version on the mac use the app called transport click the iunlock on the iPhone and wait 18 mins very easy with no command line crap

YouTube question : Does it only not work when you're using the EDGE network? It would seem to me that it would continue to work when using the internet through a WiFi connection... has anyone tried this? Or is YouTube completely non functional on a mac-unlocked phone?

If there is a mac fix for this someone post where it can be found. I'm going to work on unlocking one tomorrow and I want to have all the files/work-arounds/etc. that i need before I get into it.

so did anyone successfully unlock their phone using these instructions:

http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.php/IPhone_unlock_OS_X_Part_1

yes this is the one I used and I am very green when it came to the whole thing, everything works great!

My only problem and its just where I am located (I hope) and my calls fail but tmobile has never had good service in my house. Here is a photo its crappy cause i did it with isight but you'll see tmobile in the corner!

You people are so funny...

YOu think only AT&T is getting scrwed and Apple could care less that the iPhones are getting unlocked. .. ummmm. NO, Apple does care BIG TIME!

Apple is reproted to get roughly $10/mo from ATT per service plan that uses the iPhones. That Means, if there are over 1million hack phones, they would be loosing roghly 120million a year.

So yes, Apple would get affected by using another carrier since they get no profit sharing with ATT on that.

Well, there's a bit of bad logic here. First of all, most people don't hack phones (even when it is as easy as asking your carrier for an unlock code). Some people out there even pay outrageous international roaming... go figure!

Second, you are assuming that the people who buy the iPhones would switch to ATT if there was no other choice, and that is definitely not true. I got my iPhone free and my carrier is Sprint. For overseas, I use prepaid chips. So even if I'd bought the phone to supplement my phone collection (I have 4 now), ATT would not lose any money on me, either would Apple.
