iPhone iPhone SimFree FREE tool (iUnlock) released...

trying to activate with the new independaence after runing 1.1.1 so it will fix youtube but i keep getting that the phone is already activated even after i choose deactivate and it says that it is activated with factory activation yet youtube doesnt work

I had the same question, I am traveling in a few weeks and found the answer by testing it . You can not simply put the SIM in a use it. I must be activated. I just tried it with my ATT and a borrowed tmobile SIM.
 
I'm getting the same problem as activeuk i used ibricker to upload the files to apps/unlock.app and i can see the icon on the main page, when i press it the screen goes white and then return to main page.. any ideas?
 
I used the http://iphone.unlock.no/ method on Vista. I'm swapping SIMs without activiting. Just pop it in and it works.

I also already have an At&t account, but wanted the option to use other carrier's SIMs on my phone. The alternate SIM I'm using is Tmobile.

Is there any way to get my iPhone back to the way it was before I did all this unlocking stuff. I thought I did the hack correctly but I didn't. My phone works fine with ATT but no matter what I do my Visual Voicemail will not work.

Ok so here is the question. If I am already unlocked using a different method can I use the one, identified above or has that boat sailed ?
 
i unlocked it with the gui version extremly easy and awesome it works with orange PL 🙂 u used iphone unlock with the help of iphone mod 🙂🙂🙂
 
Will iTunes 7.1.1 work to do this unlock?

waiting for Erica to put out that one click unlock and make everyones life a little easier.

What the easiest method available at the moment? I´m running 1.0.2 firmware and can either use XP or OS X.

There´s iphone.unlock.no but I read there´s an iUnlock GUI.

download the GUI version of iUnlock. Then download INdependence 1.2.1 (it's for OSX). Use INdependence to activate your phone, then drop the iUnlock app onto your phone's applications folder.
 
Confirmed Working on Fido (http://iphone.unlock.no/)

I used the tutorial from http://iphone.unlock.no/ and I'm unlocked on Fido. Everything works except VM SMS alerts don't seem to come through anymore. Fido doesn't use the standard VM notice but sends out a SMS when you have a VM waiting. Some Fido users are reporting no Edge using the free unlock. However, Edge works on my iPhone. This good be SIM card related.
 
Anyone who's used the SIM from their previous phones (nokia, SE etc.) - how do you find the iPhone to compare in terms of signal/reception? I only ask, because my Pocket PC phone (iMate Jam) seemed to get a much better signal on O2 in the UK than my iPhone does...it also seems to jump from 1/0 bars, to full bars quite randomly.
 
I have the same issue as well. when i run ibrickr, i put all the files in the (newly created) unlock.app folder - then i run and just get a white screen - who in here is the smart one???
 
For those of you having issues with the app not working on the phone, try a restart (3 seconds of sleep+home button, slide off, sleep button once more to turn on). If that doesn't work, use Fugu to remove the app and then put it back on. Try these two in combination until it works... that's what I did.

After reading all the good news here I went to apple store and bought a 4 GB one. Well since the phone is never activated with ATT and I am a Tmobile customer how I do I start the unlocking process? For ex how do I check if I have firmware 1.02? TIA FOR HELP:apple:

These two tutorials seem to be the easiest to follow, but they have different approaches with minicom. http://iphone.unlock.no/ is more elegant, but the modmyiphone site has better laid out instructions.

Tips: Make sure to read the instructions very carefully with the SIM removed until the very end. Also, DO NOT sync without a SIM card inserted after the hack is completed. iTunes will prompt you to sign up with AT&T again and you will have to start over.

I'd be looking at this for Rogers too....when you refer to a SIM card, I assume you mean the one from your present phone and not the iPhone? Thanks
 
Is there ANYONE that can confirm they used the HaRRo GUI verison and it worked successfuly (http://www.freeiphoneunlock.com/unlock). The following site says it was a scam and does not work at all:

"Alright guys, it turns out that the iUnlock GUI developer that we thought was part of the iPhone Dev Team is nothing more than a scam artist. He managed to trick us into believing that he would be releasing a graphical application to automate the application of the iPhone Dev Team’s iUnlock software, and that he was actually part of the iPhone Dev Team.

haRRo almost solicited a $42,000 donation from iphoneworldwideunlock.com and has reportedly aligned himself with Aussie iPhone Unlock to distribute the iUnlock GUI application that he allegedly created"

his program worked for me its just when they say send the unlock app you need to do it through ssh thats all

Real stupid question here guys..My gf, who already has cingular wants an iphone now. She wants to stay on her current plan, and she is not interested in data. After unlocking, would she be alright using her current plan?

Next Download one of the files from one of these mirrors

(links here)

and extract it and upload to your Iphones /Applications/ Directory

It should be /Applications/Unlock.app/

New file replace with old iUnlock in /Unlock.app/

Why do you add a file to the phone and then immeditaly overwrite it?

She has to add a data plan for visual voicemail, email and safari. Have her add the $20 unlimted data plan to her acccount.
