Is anybody going to make a screencast abbout the procedure AND the consequences?
Will one be still able to sync media and stuff through iTunes after unlocking it with iUnlock?

I suppose I will be the only one who thinks this is just utterly bad form for MacRumors to post (advertise) this on the front page of the site.

So what is it here exactly? MacRumors? MacWarez? MacCracks? MacSerials?

So the point of unlocking it is solely so you can use TMobile? Are there any other benefits of unlocking your phone? Also anybody got any pics of their unlocked phones?

Did you use the new software that was just released today?

Yes.

If you mind, could you indulge us with what method/tutorial you used so that I can begin to clear some of the links out/streamline the post? Thanks! (Also for those wondering, I successfully unlocked it yet have no T-Mobile sim in order to test it! DOH!)

I used the outline on the website i posted earlier in this thread. since, there has come out a tutorial that is even clearer that lists literally the same thing. it is here. I restored the iphone (FW 1.0.2) and started from scratch.

Yeah, this breaks no laws and is illegal in no way. Check your facts up buddy, this still remains macrumors.

No one forces you to come to this site, we are all here for the same reason, Mac info/news. :apple:

Well, if Apple wanted you to have an unlocked iPhone, they would have sold you one. But they didn't, did they?

They wanted you to have one though, it's just that the terms of the deal with AT&T most surely involved locking the phone to their network. Apple is known to screw partners and I really doubt Steve Jobs saw AT&T as anything more than a means to an end in this situation. He would love to sell unlocked iPhones and in fact, Apple has made no attempts so far within the past 2-3 weeks to stop any of the software unlocking attempts, it has been AT&T.

Apple's biggest mistake was going with At&T only. This is a multbillion mistake.

They knew it was going to get unlocked and they will make virtually no attempts to stop it. AT&T believed that they were getting the better end of the deal in this situation, but Apple will screw them in the end, on such a grand scale. What a great time to be alive. ;)

My Iphone is with AT&T but Im happy for these people not only in the US but worldwide that they'll be able to use this great phone with other carriers.
This lock on one carrier only wasnt such a great idea but who cares.
Get over it dude and stop beeing miserable.
Do you work for AT&T? :D

why are most of the tutorials windows tutorials??? they dont even mention mac!!!!!

would a restore undo the process. Thus returning it to a locked phone? If it needed to be serviced

Do I have to activate the iPhone with AT&T before I can unlock the iPhone? Also, is it possible to update the phone without activating it?

Well although T-Mobile is the most common cited GSM provider in the US (aside from AT&T), they aren't the only one. Here in the Queen City we have Cincinnati Bell. I would love to take out my sim card and keep my excellent service (and no contract!) and use an iphone instead. Especially for $200 less.
