error sending message

this is my sort of fix for the iphone sms problem. im using Rogers with a iTurbosim, 1.1.2 OTB Iphone and 1.1.2 firmware jailbroken.
I get the problem where randomly ill try and respond to a text and it will say "error sending message", i then can only receive messages. ive tried reseting and deleting conversations and all that jazz, they work sometimes.
ive found a fix that works everytime this happens though, it wont prevent it from happening again mind you.

Once you get the error message re-enter your service center number. for rogers in canada you dial *5005*7672*+17057969300# sometimes you have to enter it two or three times to get a "succeeded" message. once you do this go call up a friend or whatever and get them to send you 2 or 3 txts consecutively. by the second or third message you will be able to respond again.

a little update! I took my Telstra sim out, and put it into a motorola phone and did a master reset & clear, then put it back to my iphone. It works!!!
Lets see if it stays fixed :D......

hello all.

So I read through the whole thread, and a souple of others. Here is what i know for now:
*Many, many 1.1.2 iPhones have this issue.
*If you experience it, you may find a solution, but it's so that they do not all work on all phones (which is surprising to be honest)
*However, stunningly is that everybody are able to receive messages
What happens:
*in most cases, it happens like this: -try to send a message
- it comes to 3/4, then stops and says "error sending message"
-phone looses signal
-phone tells you there is NO SIGNAL
-5sec later phone has FULL signal
-this is sometimes followed by a "Locked SIM" sign

what i have experienced now:
*i found out that sometimes, for some reason the message sending "comes back" tho it doesnt stay long.
*if you try to send a message, and it errors you, you hit home.. if you then go back to messages you can see the unsent one, but if you look at the number its in a format (ex): 1919<1919> or Rebecca<+2183481481>
and not 1919 only. I have seen this only in case its not send, otherwise it's 1919.

Unfortunatelly I still havent found a solution myself... Tho I really would NEED it. I have tried everything enyone ever suggested (including unlocking again).

*the sim card with the NextSim attached to it in a nother phone WORKS, you can indeed send messages.
*putting it back in, it stops working AGAIN

please, if anyone is there that knows a bit more about these phones, how they are built and connected, I bet it could help the few of us who cant get it to work on any matter.

Thanks

I will contact apple today or something, Im really angry.

Great!! Keep us posted!! I took out my SIM card, put it back to another phone without the NEXTSIM, did a master reset/clear, then put it back with the NEXTSIM to iphone, so far i can send SMS without problems....Hope it stays fixed......

update about my case

Yeah I was having the same problem on Telstra in Australia, I have had my iPhone for a week and it was SMSing fine, but a couple of days ago stopped being able to send SMS's (always receiving fine).

So I tried all these things above, nothing worked, and then put my sim into a Nokia N95, sent a test SMS. Then put my sim back into my iphone and now it's all working fine again.

Weird. Maybe got something to do with clearing a cache on the sim that the iPhone doesn't do? (I am using the anySim thingo to make it work on my 1.1.2 iPhone.)

Let's see if it stays fixed....

So no ... after only a couple of days of being able to send texts again my phone has decided to stop being able to send.

A few observations:
- If I try to use SMSD instead of the normal SMS application, it says that it can successfully send texts but they never arrive to the phone I'm sending to.
- I can also verify what KooKazoo saw, this happens to me too:
if you try to send a message, and it errors you, you hit home.. if you then go back to messages you can see the unsent one, but if you look at the number its in a format (ex): 1919<1919> or Rebecca<+2183481481>

Does anyone know what the service center number for Telstra is?
oh - here is a list for all countries: http://www.ozeki.hu/index.phtml?ow_page_number=458

got it working again!

whoo hoo - got it working again,

I did the *5005*7672*+61418706700# command for Telstra and at first it didn't fix it, but then I tried recieving a few messages from another phone (on Three) and now I can send texts again to anyone.

Such a weird bug! I wonder how long this fix will last for.

well, this isn't working for me. It says:

Setting succeeded
Service center address
No Adress

what does this mean??

That Means that it worked. Now you have to receive some text messages from one person all in a row, possibly three or four. Just try to respond after 2 or 3

this weird thing happened to me today..

The phone stopped sending sms again, and I entered the sms center number.. an now it said:

Service succedded
Service center address
*5005*7672*+38641001333#

it actually went through. so yea, its working again now. we'll see if this actually ment the end of my problems.

i tried the sms service center thing, it worked for 2 days and it stopped working again today:mad:.

I entered the number again, and after receiving 3 sms from my friends phone, its working now. it said:
Setting succeeded
Service center address
No Adress

Im wondering how long it'll stay fixed??????

SMS Problem

Hello all,
I bought an iphone in Canada, and am currently using a new Rogers SIM card. It is unlocked, but it is still 1.1.1.

I read all the posts, and I have entered the number: *5005*7672*+17057969300#

When I enter it, it says

Setting Succeeded
Service center Address
No Address

i still cannot send or receive sms messages. Help!

Thanks...

try receiving three text messages right after setting that call center thing.

even though i pretty much invented this method my cellphone now does not respond to it. i was using the reset everyday for about 2 weeks and now its just given up. so lame.

well now that there are software unlocks for 1.1.2 otb and 1.1.3 otb, theres no need for these disfunctional *sims. i have heard that some people who have performed the software unlock now dont get the "error sending message" that they got before when on H/W unlock.

10x

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

after hours of research i found a solution for this sms problem

its the sms message center number u need to put n iphone so u could send sms to everyone

wat u need to do is this on iphone type this

*5005*7672*XXXXXXXX# Call were xxxxxxxx is message center number provided by carrier to get this number u need to call customer service of ur carrier :)

thank's a lot man, it works, i am on orange network in romania, and your solution worked for me. thank's again.

now that fix doesn't even work

Now that *5005*7672*+xxxxxxxxx# fix doesn't even work for me, still can't send text messages after the whole process of receiving a few from another phone.

Will try the software crack and update to 1.1.3 tonight, fingers crossed that solves the problem.

1.1.2 software unlock solves SMS problem

Hey guys sorry for not getting back here earlier.

I have just done the 1.1.2 software unlock as per the instructions at: http://www.hackthatphone.com/112/iphone_unlock_112_46bl.html

And it's all working great for me now. I have been able to throw away my hardware unlock, and insert the SMS card just by itself and now it runs fine and sends SMS's fine.

NOTE:
However, before I could send SMS's again I did have to do the *5005*7672*+61418706700# command (that service number is Telstra in Australia) and that started working fine. I think the reason I had to do this might have been because I had previously been trying out numerous different service centre number which must have been wrong, before I installed the software patch. So in other words, so long as you actually are using the correct service centre number then the 1.1.2 software unlock works great.

I would be interested to hear how others go with this.

Cheers,
-Chris

Ok, my phone is NOT unlocked. Never has been, and never will be. I just started getting the "error sending message" while I was trying to text someone. I'm getting a clear signal, and I've texted this person many times before. I shut the phone down and restarted, and it's still happening. What gives? Anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it? Has this happened to people who do NOT have unlocked phones??

SMS "error sending text"

Hi all!

I have been suffering for these same symptoms for the last 10 days (since I bought my iPhone -1.0.2), i.e. I am unable to send sms replies to 2-3 contacts on my iPhone. I have run through the following steps as posted on this thread:
1. Delete all sms's from my sim card - no change
2. Re-enter sms service centre through phone keypad- no change
3. Replace sim-card- no change
However, I have stumbled upon the solution to this (at least for my iPhone!). It appears that the problem is with the phone that sends you an sms which then corrupts your chat history. The solution to this for me was:

Get the user of the phone number that you have issues with to go through their sms settings and change the following setting as follows:

Reply via same service center- NO

Both numbers that were giving me problems are now fully operational!

Hope this helps.

I went through the above process with the my one contact that I experienced this problem with. Everything now appears to be normal. No need to make any changes on my iphone. ~ Busy

Why don't you try to install SMSD?
You can send message or chat by using this SMSD instead of SMS which is built-in application of iPhone.
Hope this help.:)
