Please tell me you didn’t allow that to happen and fired them forthwith.Ha. I recently bought a new iPhone, paid in full but not activated. I went to Verizon and added it to my account. They SIM locked it even though I don’t owe them a penny. It’s 100% my ****ing phone.
Yes but I used to be a Verizon subscriber until November.MVNOs were not impacted by the outage. I'm on US Mobile's Warp network (Verizon), and I never lost service.
Boy, I can't wait to get my $1.36 credit for the inconvenience.
Verizon today experienced a major outage, which it now says has been resolved. To make up for the inconvenience, the carrier has promised that all affected customers will be credited an unspecified amount, with more details to be shared soon.

"Today, we let many of our customers down and for that, we are truly sorry," said Verizon.
iPhone users with Verizon service were generally unable to make phone calls, send text messages, or use data over 5G or LTE due to the outage.
iPhone users typically see "SOS" in the status bar when a carrier experiences an outage.
Apple explains what "SOS" means in a support document:Verizon said that customers who are still having an issue should restart their devices to reconnect to the network.

The wireless side is awful.Verizon….
Dear Customer,
We apologize you lost all cellular service, including 911 services. In consideration of this inconvenience, we have credited your account in the amount of 37 cents.
Thank you for being a loyal customer. We look forward to screwing you again in the future

Does anyone know why the satellite text feature didn’t work as well?
The sad part is, engineers in the 90s were probably smarter than the idiots that put together systems today. It was like living in the ‘90s again today
This is also the case in Germany, just without the SOS. You’re able to call emergency services even without a SIM card, like in the US.If you see SOS or "SOS only" in the status bar, your device isn't connected to your cellular network, but you can still make emergency calls through other carrier networks. This feature is available in Australia, Canada, and the United States.

I didn’t experience issues with my Visible line, weirdI have Visible by Verizon service and wondered why my phone was in SOS Mode earlier today. I just thought the building I was in didn’t get a reliable signal.
Its a prorated amount for what your bill is. We had an outage here apparently a few weeks ago and I got $8 back for the day even though the outage was only for a few hours.Nice. AT&T did the same thing in the past too:

AT&T Giving $5 Credit to Customers Following Major Network Outage
AT&T has announced that it will be providing impacted customers with a $5 bill credit per account as compensation for the network's major outage across the U.S. on Thursday. The credits will automatically be applied within two bill cycles, it said. AT&T said the bill credit offer does not apply...www.macrumors.com
Those engineers were too expensive so the executives were forced to replace them with “our offshore partners”The sad part is, engineers in the 90s were probably smarter than the idiots that put together systems today.
So many poorly implemented software systems at these companies now.
Outage did make me resort to my other options. Once I got home and was on my wifi network, I was able to use Google Voice to make a call to my grandmother's landline. I also made a FaceTime Audio call to someone on an iPhone (sound quality is crazy good btw). Obviously none of this would work without a wifi signal, but I guess my next step would be to try Satellite SMS in a pinch? It is another reminder that China or another country, even our own, could bring our grid down at any time. That said, it is days like yesterday that has me thinking I should have kept my landline.
