It’s like the iPod Touch days where you have to connect to public Wi-Fi to do anything

I had Verizon until earlier this year. Switched to Mint mobile to save about $100/month. It definitely has a few downsides (deprioritized during the eclipse while in a large crowd so I had no internet for an hour or two, and no RCS for iPhones yet) but overall I think its been a very positive move. Especially with how much I've saved and now this.

My wife's iPhone 15 Pro is Verizon Wireless, Wi-Fi calling and Wi-Fi texting are not working. Also tried changing from "5G Auto" to "LTE" (then power cycling) and still nothing.

She's unhappy as she is on call doctor and patients can't reach her. I can't setup call forwarding by dialing *72 to setup somewhere else, I also can't log into My Verizon to see if you can forward calls on the website - 2FA not working since its sending text I can't receive.

Here in Phoenix, my iPhone shows SOS but my iPad Pro has a full signal of 5G UW and seems to be working fine. Very strange.
My company iPhone 13 has service meanwhile my brand new 16 pro has nothing and keeps intermittently getting service back and primarily in SOS/No Service. Here in Phoenix as well. Very odd.

Unfortunately without at least 1 bar of signal WiFi calling or texting won’t work. Hopefully enough people raise hell to get this changed for future outages.

I'm getting 5G coverage in the Philly metro area. My other half is in the lower DEL-MAR-VA and is having issues sending text messages and making calls. I'm also connected to a 4-g Jetpack at work and that's in and out.

It's definitely spotty how it's working and how it isn't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Service has been out for me since at least 7:30AM Pacific (it's almost 10AM now) in West Hollywood, CA.

My husband is in a hospital just north of Boston currently with no signal as well.
Thankfully we are able to text each other via Wi-Fi.

For those that are down, is it on a new iPhone? I'm wondering if it does have to do with eSIMs on the 16 series.

We both have new phones and only one of ours is down so I wouldn’t think it was user hardware related.

I’m currently at a Verizon Store, and the employees know nothing more than we do. Unfortunate. I am waiting on some important medical calls. I will be sure to demand a credit of some sort.

The outage has lasted me two hours now. I thought it would be brief because it’s large spread, but it’s beginning to look a lot more serious. I wonder what kind of liability Verizon will face later. Could it be an attack on the infrastructure?
It’s still out in Ohio

Do you not get the 2FA notification/approval through the Verizon app? I don't recall doing anything special to set this up, but it's been a while since I've had to do 2FA via text.

Unfortunately, you cannot set up call forwarding through the site or app. It has to be done from the phone itself by using *72.
