Even on my iPad Pro I rarely use the split or multitasking. Not really necessary. Facebook app won’t allow you to do split screen unless you’re in the browser.

Don't see what the difference is. Both are relatively small, which is exactly why such functionality is useful.

Jesus Christ, what laptops do you use?? 5 inches, 15 or 17 inches. Guess there’s not much difference in it really. lol

Apple never implemented wireless charging before. Why did they start now?
maybe Apple will allow a split display one that works on a charging pad. They have had years to introduce split screen app, but maybe they don’t want to have multiple apps that run like **** and waste resources and need much more memory to run.

The $329 iPad (2017) runs split view flawlessly with an A9 and 2GB of RAM. It also renders at higher resolution than iPhone X. Is split view resource hungry? Probably not.

Apple uses feature rationing to encourage consumers to upgrade. This year, iPhone X is selling itself. Next year, what better way to push iPhone 11 Plus than to introduce split view?

We're seeing the same thing with Portrait Lighting being limited to iPhone 8 Plus and X. If you hack a photo file, iPhone 7 Plus can magically do it too.

Well maybe next year Apple will introduce a 10 inch phone just so the handful of users can use multiple apps at once and charge them big money for it. Apple has always held back hardware features from its phone line. I wouldn’t buy a phone just because it viewed apps in a downgraded version of them, but if your happy with that buy all means switch to Samesung and happily buy a new phone every year just to get the current OS

Useless feature that only a minority want, until they put it in, then it's the best thing ever am I right?

I can think of a few times it would be quite useful to have two apps going at once, mainly in terms of having a reference tab while writing a text or email on the go. Maybe it will come with the rumoured larger screened phones next year?

Not really. I’ve had phones with the feature and never found it worth having.

I was very excited about split screen multi-tasking on the iPad Pro, but the reality is that I don’t use it that often. The other day I used it to take some notes from a web page without having to switch apps. It can be handy on the iPad, but I’m not sure it would be as useful on the small display of the iPhone. The example I just mentioned would have been hard on an iPhone display because the keyboard takes up almost half the display. On the iPad there is enough room for it to be useful.

Heck Apple launched without an App store or apps. Yet we have both now. Just because Apple has never done something doesn' mean it will never happen.
It also doesn’t mean that it will happen. Apple has had the ability to do it for years, but hasn’t. It’s software not hardware. It’s looks like **** on Android. Maybe Apple doesn’t want to make their phones look like like over crowded junk.

Neither is having bezel-less phones and curved displays. A different color next year won't make it anymore useful but people will still buy it because it looks better.

What's the point of having a bigger and taller display when it can't do something a Note II did by 2012, iPad did by iOS8, and most Android did by Nougat? A taller display with a weird aspect ratio only makes it harder to reach the top.

A taller phone with a weird aspect ratio also makes picture in picture look weirder then it is. Why do you like pocturemin picture it looks stupid on all Android phones. Just because an operating systems supports,it doesn’t mean it’s any good. Especially when that OS doesn’t treat phones or tablets as different products. Split screen looks better on a bigger screen, not a tall narrow one.

Apple won't even show us the battery % unless we pull down the Control Center which is harder to do since the display is taller. It's 5.8" of wasted space, so why even bother asking for split-view or PiP? A battery % can't even fit in one of the ears.

They could allow people to change the battery icon to a percentage, but they chose not too. They also could have shown a carrier Leo on the screen, but alas that is also missing along with carrier branding on the back of the phone and carrier bloatware on the phone.

Get an iPad. If you really want a multi window phone get an Android device. I don’t see why they should add this useless feature for the minority.
Guaranteed if IOS had this feature exclusively, it would be one more reason why Android is inferior.

Nobody needs this. I'm glad Apple stays away from such stupid useless gimmicks.
See my post above

I don’t use two apps side by side but it would be nice to be in one app, switch to another and back again without it reloading the app. My 2017 iPad still does this and I had hoped the bump in Ram would have sorted this out. I’m pretty shocked to hear the X does this too?! Sure,y these devices can hold a minor piece of information during use?

I personally want PiP for YouTube more. I like to browse the web while a small window of a YouTube video is playing. I usually listen to it as it's either educational or a music video.

If split-view and PiP aren't useful, so are the display gimmicks that everyone is just trying to do which follows Samsung's curved televisions.

Edge-to-edge - useless
Curved - useless
Second display - useless
Taller w/ weird aspect ratio - useless

Find me one functionality with taller displays other than you can view information in portrait. You save a swipe up gesture to gently scroll down. Like swiping up is so difficult to do.

You know what is useful? Faster wireless charging. We should be on batteries that either degrades very slowly or charges within a minute if it still can't give us a one-week of usage. Stalemate in battery life replaced by cosmetic gimmicks with displays.

You can’t watch a video, but the YouTube app certainly allows you to listen to audio while browsing safari. You just need to have a YouTube Red subscription. If the iPhone, and YouTube, ever had PiP it would more than likely be limited to YouTube Red subscribers too.

I personally don't see much of a point in split screen even on a Plus sized phone. You split it in half and each app is operating on less than 3 inches of space?? I have an iPad Mini and even splitting a 7.9" display is barely ever useful.
