I can't believe I have the same issue again trying to update to 4.0.1, even though it's not jailbroken this time.
I was too naive to think the problem was definitely solved.

So here we go again, this is so depressing.
I'm hating my iPhone 3G like never before.

Hey I had the same problem, while beta testing 4.0 whats more so I was very worried. However, turns out you just need to uninstall itunes and some core files

If you are still unable to restore iPhone, remove iTunes by doing this:

If you are a Mac user, delete the following files:

2. /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DeviceLink.framework
3. /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework

After that, restart your Mac and install the latest version of iTunes. Repeat the normal restore again.

For Windows users, uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes from your system, restart the computer and re-install the latest version of iTunes and try to restore again.

thank you so much. this fixed it. many statues should be risen in your honor!

thanks geezer. you have saved me times i had to take my phone to my m8 as it would never update on the mac

:cool::):apple:

I'm too stuck in the unable to update boat! Tryed everything suggested on this forum and still no luck, looks like a trip up to the apple store for me, I've never had problems with any previous iPhones exept the one I have now! Why can't they just "work" like all previous models!!!

This is what i did,

I deleted the files, rebooted mac, downloaded and (without uninstalling itunes) installed itunes, and plugged in iPhone, opened itunes, clicked restore. Done.

Same Problem, No Solution

Anyone, please help me out! My phone underwent some water damage and after putting it in a bag of rice, I've plugged it in to restore. It restores, but when finished, it makes me restore it again. Ive tried almost all the methods listed above.

This fixed my iPhone 4 from hanging with the exact same problem. I wish I tried this method when I first read about it. It would have saved me about six hours and a lot of frustration.

Thanks nicksherb.

Try Removing or unstalling WiFiSync if you have it.
It worked, thanks!

itunes update

Tell u what guys this is absolutely crazy, I had an iphone working A1 and went to update itunes during this process it froze, my phone did not work after this, and I have tried for the last 5 hours to re-install the software, from what I have read on different websites there is a lot of people having problems, GET THIS SORTED AMAC, what are u doing, I am a computer engineer and I am having problems re-installing your software and I have to go into forums like this to find what is the problem, give people in lay-mans terms what to do, from having probably the best phone I have ever had, to having the worst back-up service when something goes wrong is to say the least F**ing disgraceful.
N01 Why when updating itunes if u have a problem downloading, this can wipe out your entire software package, CRAZY
NO2 With reference to above when this happens, to try re-install its nearly impossible after 5 hours of trying to re-install (I CANT)
What is this Jail Break crap, what does this mean? did someone break into jail and steal someones iphone and wipe the software from their phone, and then leave them the phone to try to re-install the software, tell u what thats punishment, if they can re-install u get an automatic 5 year decrease in your sentence.

Iphone Applemac get this sorted let people know what 2 do... if your download F***s up do this.....

Paying 400 quid for a phone and having these sorts of problems is NOT ON

Pissed of Applemac-IPhone user (maybe X User)

Dear, Whiney Computer Engineer

@ brianbru61 Why don't you vent your "computer engineer" angst directed at Apple by bringing it directly TO Apple rather than to a USER forum?

If you want to do nothing more than throw a tantrum and have nothing else of value to contribute why do you think anyone cares to hear your noise?

If one were to tell you to ******* would that be layman enough for you?

BTW, why is a "computer engineer" complaining that something is not in layman's terms?

please helpppp

i tried everything on this forum. nothing has worked for me. ive been working on this for hours now. I wanted a fresh jailbreak because my phone was being very buggy. I originally used redsn0w for 4.2.1 and without thinking I used greenpoison 4.2.1 for the fresh jailbreak. After that I was stuck on the apple logo. Since then I've been trying to restore and it my phone gets stuck with about 2/3 of the restore bar filled. I've tried everything on this forum. What can i do:(

Help Please :(

Are you on a Mac or PC?

You said that you did everything on this site. Did you remove all of the files associated with iTunes as mentioned above?

Hi postsider I am having the same issue. I tried to get the new update 4.3.1 and jailbreak it but it got stuck in the restoring process.
Did you find a way to fix it.?
