that stylus isnt some pos from the dollar store, it's neatly designed, although this kind of defeats the purpose of MULTI TOUCH, but yea... pretty cool and worth checking out.

It does look like it's designed for Chinese handwriting input. Even the flex head looks like it's meant to mimic a brush. Though the handwriting recognition works pretty well with just a finger IMO.

The tool definitely has a place, it wouldn't be made if it didn't. One of the biggest uses I would say is for handwriting Chinese. So 1.3 billion sales later people might start understanding its place.

I agree! This stylus is just like a brush, much better (and more natural) for writing characters.

It's to complement the use of a finger, not to replace it.

1.3 billion + 120 million Japanese = a pretty big market for this thing.

I must have OCD as well because I wipe my iPhone clean of smudges probably 10-15 times a day... Basically every time I'm done using it I put it to sleep and wipe it off with my shirt until there aren't any smudges. I just thought that was normal...

You think your bad!? I wipe mine down with rubbing alcohol every day! Same with my keyboard, mouse, iMac, iBook, and TV. I got it bad.

@dejo- your obscene

Don

Ok, yeah, that's probably a more severe case but I'm sure rubbing it down after every single usage is still a little OCD. Good on ya for keeping the rubbing alcohol businesses alive ;)

Wow there are a great deal of people who are interested in declaring that they aren't interested in a product they claim they aren't interested in.

I actually just converted my mom from her HTC Tilt to an iPhone over a stylus. Unlike many of you, my mom has fingernails. The iPhone doesn't respond to fingernail touches that easily, so its been a deterrant for her because the iPhone didn't have a stylus. Well now it does. See, just because something isn't for you doesn't mean a market doesn't exist. Think globally.

maybe it's good for sketches and quick notes

Maybe I am really different, but I like to jot down notes and do quick sketches. The keyboard doesn't do it for these things. If it works like it shows, I would use it. And I don't care that Steve Jobs doesn't like styli! GMAB

My fingers is not good enough?

For fifteen buck I will stick with the index, besides I won't lose it.:)

Me too. LOL Of course, I *know* I have OCD and take prozac for it. :p

WTH? Did they not listen to what Steve Jobs said about styluses when he first introduced the iPhone to the world?

There were no 'drawing' applications for the iPhone when he said that. Now there are several.

Clearly many people here have not used them, or they wouldn't be acting so confused as to why this product exists.

Just because one man has an opinion on a stylus doesn't make it universally correct.

I've never understood this. Don't these people realize it is impossible to hit two keys at once no matter how hard you try? I just typed a sentence using the entire flat part of my thumbs. Yeah it was harder than normal but if you fingertips are as fat as my entire thumb then I am guessing you are used to working with them by now...

That's not really his argument - he's talking about the iPhone thinking you want "s" instead of maybe "d" or "a" and the larger your finger the higher the likelihood that you won't hit it *exactly* where you should. That's where the smart dictionary comes in handy I think. I type all my stuff using two thumbs and I undoubtedly make plenty of mistake but it fixes virtually of them for me.

Yeah, well I always find the same, that the auto correct fixes everything pretty much exactly how I wanted it...But what I was referring to is people who are hesitant about upgrading to an iphone from their razr, for example, because they fear that they will be unable to hit the keys with the accuracy that they assume is needed to use it well

I really can't imagine drawing with a stylus that has that fat of a point. If I'm going to draw with something it needs to be as thick as a pencil/pen - not as thick as my finger. I just can't see this being what people are hoping for when it comes to have the ability to draw/doodle on the phone.

EDIT: Ok - I looked at it again and it's not as big as a finger but it's still a little too big to be compared to a pencil/pen. The biggest issue is how easily it'll move across the screen. Is it more like a moist finger, what I like to call Sticky Fingers, or a totally dry finger?

So stupid. The iphone brags that it doesn't need one of these terrible things, why go back to this crap?

This is handy for people who want to use their iphones/itouches who have to work while wearing gloves.

That was my biggest complaint about losing the actual scrolling wheel as seen on the 1st gen ipod.
