I have a bumper on mine and its fine, I have a carbon fibre back to make it a bit different.

... I read reviews that some say it scratches their iPhone steel lining... did yours?

Loads of scratches on the bottom of my bezel from the bumper which it's been in since day 1. I think it's due to dust and other stuff getting in there and rubbing it. Although my friend's iPhone has the same bumper with no scratches, but it feels as though the rubber is stiffer (bought later than me)
I would go for a bumper design so you can show off the back of the phone, but don't go with an Apple one.

Weird.. yeah mine doesn't work.

Also, about the bumper... did you own one? I read reviews that some say it scratches their iPhone steel lining... did yours?

I have had two bumpers and I can tell you first hand it does scratch the steel band around the iPhone. I can prove it with pictures to.
