That might not be an option in the future. I've heard rumors that Apple wants to halt having to produce iPadOS. The foldable iPhone running iOS can eventually replace smaller iPads; the MacBook Neo illustrates that MacOS can run on iPhone A chips; and it is rumored that future MacBook Pro laptops will incorporate touch screens, giving it overlapping functionality of an iPad Pro. There is an article dated April 24 of this year at "Macworld.com" entitled "Apple's iPad phaseout has begun" which details some of this stuff:It's not just you. The 'traditional' fold shape looks nicer but you end up with a square screen which is neither one thing nor the other. You don't get any extra width for media consumption.
The 'passport' shape looks ungainly and will not be a great experience on the external screen but when opened will be more like using an iPad Mini - a better experience than square IMHO.
I'll stick with a separate iPad and iPhone.
It does look odd, especially with several manufacturers having established the current folding form factor. Therefore the rumored design is “different” which Apple is fond of. Time will tell if it’s useful. The 'passport' shape looks ungainly and will not be a great experience on the external screen but when opened will be more like using an iPad Mini - a better experience than square IMHO.
I shared this opinion until I bought my Z Fold7. Now after months of use and complete satisfaction, I find that at home I still enjoy my iPad mini as much as before.I'll stick with a separate iPad and iPhone.
My thoughts exactly.“It’s our least annoying glue ever! We think you’re really going to love these proprietary screws!”
So because it’s repairable it’s fragile and will break? What a horrible take.So if this iphone fold will be so fragile and break so easily this is good news
I like the design. Everyone has a ton of opinions on how people will not enjoy this experience. I’m optimistic.Am I the only one that thinks the rumored design is garbage and ungainly looking? I love the look of the Samsung Fold and was hoping apple would have taken the air screens and sandwiched them together to the Fold design. The rumored design just looks ugly and unusable in my opinion.
Nokia 6210 was a great phone as well.View attachment 2627817 Nokia 3310 owners trying to remember when was the last time they had to repair their phone. It could flip but wasn't a flip phone. It was smart but wasn't a smartphone. It was just the best phone EVER and it even had snaaaaake !!!!!! SSSNNAAAKE !!!!!
Well, keep in mind that complexity may mean it also ends up being the “most repaired” iPhone yet.Apple’s most complex iPhone will also be the most repairable? *Doubt intensifies*
First time I've heard that these two terms aren't considered largely synonymous"logical yet elegant"
Other vendors have already had this. I think the original Pixel Fold was like this but Apple look like they are leaning more into the passport shape than the Pixel Fold did. Huawei have just released one too - trying to get the jump on Apple in China. It does look odd, especially with several manufacturers having established the current folding form factor. Yes it’s true, some early models were passport shape, with subsequent models transitioning to the current shape of the Z Fold7, Oppo Find N5 and N6, as well as Honor Magic V3-V5-V6, along with the Vivo X Fold 5.Other vendors have already had this.
