I like the rumored shape, in particular the unfolded inner screen 4/3 dimensions, similar to an iPad Mini. The entire appeal of this phone for me is that it’s a tablet, but fits in my pocket—and traditional phones have reached their maximum for my pockets!Yes it’s true, some early models were passport shape, with subsequent models transitioning to the current shape of the Z Fold7, Oppo Find N5 and N6, as well as Honor Magic V3-V5-V6, along with the Vivo X Fold 5.
My personal experience with my Z Fold7 has been exceptionally satisfying as it suits my workflow perfectly. As such I was particularly interested in a folding iPhone until Apples choice of shape was revealed. Surely it will suit some who will adapt their usage to the device.
That others are copying Apple is a testimony to the company’s power and influence over the faithful who will buy most anything with the Logo they love to show
Placing my iPhone 17 Pro Max in a suit or sport coat chest pocket is as big as I can go. And front jeans or slacks, likewise, I don’t want a bigger phone. If I didn’t hate the screen size of the standard iPhone Pro (too narrow), I would prefer the size. And obviously, there’s no way to cram a 6.9” screen in a 6” device! Unless it folds or rolls up (the other tech we haven’t seen in a phone yet).
I’m not sure I’ll buy this first iteration, I think I’ll wait for the 2nd or 3rd, when they’ve hopefully managed to include FaceID, and a telephoto camera. I really dislike TouchID on a narrow button on any device.
