Hey y’all is anyone else really excited about the iPhone Ultra!? Like I know it’s losing FaceID and MagSafe but I’m super excited about this phone. I love foldable and I’ve had the Z Fold but I hate anything not Apple, so I sent it back and I’m waiting for the Ultra. Who’s with me?

I think there are a fair number of foldable users who will come back to Apple when the Apple foldable is released.

I’m more interested in iOS 27 allowing iPhone users to use the same number with another iPhone.

Not at the price Apple will be charging for it -

I am excited for it, I like foldables but prefer iOS. I also think the form factor makes more sense than most otherr foldables.

Just hoping it isn’t delayed much and I manage to snag one day one.

I will be getting one but right now I decided to wait and see what tech reviewers all have to say about the new Ultra and weigh in everything before spending the cash to acquire this asset.

Personally I am super excited for it, and these rumors of it not launching in September bum me out, as I am so ready to turn in my 17 PM and get the Ultra!!

I don't care for folding phones. The cameras aren't pro enough for my needs and the display isn't glass, only high quality plastic. I understand the concept, but I've never been a fan. I've mostly switched to Samsung and I hardly use my 17 pro max. So I'll watch the keynote like everyone else and see what apple does.

I’m interested / curious to see the tech behind it, just to see what Apple finally does with it.

I know I am not in the market for the insane prices they’re going to ask for it anyway.

I’ll also probably be disappointed because it’s a version one that won’t support Apple Pencil, magsafe, pro cameras, again for the price.

So I’m curious to see what they come up with, but not interested in buying (which, fair enough, makes apple not care about my opinion I think 😉)

I’ve been a huge fan of foldables since the Z Fold 2. I owned the 2, 4 and just bought the 5 a couple weeks ago for a couple hundred bucks to keep around and use as a WiFi-only device until the Apple version becomes appealing enough and/or goes down in price on the secondary market. I much prefer the squarish shape of Z Folds 1-7 over the “wide” format of the Z Fold 8 and upcoming iPhone.

Im so hyped, BUT...it depends on what price. If its over 2500 dollars....and if the Ipad Mini 8 and the Iphone 18 Pro Max do more for the same price or less, (Meaning pencil support, better cameras, etc...) it makes more sense to get those instead of the Ultra.

If combining both items cost me more then having both, and their are too many compromizes like lack of faceID, Magsafe, pencil support, better cameras, I rather have two seperate devices then one.

Im not a rich man. 2500 dollars upwards is a TON of money to me and im saving every penny i can for this phone, but it has to be worth it value wise.

Thats why i dont have an Apple Vision Pro. I want one SOOOO badly and if won a scratch of lotto ticket tonight id buy one tomarrow morning. But 3699 is an insane amount of money despite all it can do.

Same thing applys here. If it cost too much and has too many compromises, it makes more sense to get more functionality for less.

Unsure about it right now, tbh. I’ll just have to wait and see if it’s something I fancy. I will just give my 17 Pro to my other half if I choose to upgrade, as she has a 15.

The crease put me off last years Samsung model. Ive yet to try this year's versions but am curious about the Z fold 8 and its new size. Which will probably be identical to Apples version. But the lack of zoom camera... might be the deciding factor. And the price!

Number of times I wish I had a foldable: 0.

So no, I couldn't care less.

I'm on the same boat as OP. Tried the Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 and loved it, but I'm too tied too the Apple ecosystem. Sent is back and am waiting for the iPhone Ultra. Not really a photo-guy so missing the Telephoto lens is a non-issue for me. TouchID instead of FaceID isn't really a problem either, but I'm gonna miss MagSafe. Probably gonna buy a MagSafe compatible case so I can keep using my Moft accessories. In the meantime I'm gonna keep watching the Fold 8 videos on YouTube 😛

Nope. Never been interested in a fold phone…. And even less so with this form factor Apple chose to go with…. That tiny 5.5” outside screen will not work for me.

Im pretty interested but the compromises along with the price are a major deterrence. No telephono lens is a major one, why waste space on an ultra wide that most don't use when you can put a zoom lens instead. Durability is another major concern. Im not too bothered by the lack of MagSafe since any case can add that functionality back. Tbh I almost prefer it that way since 99% of people use cases and having extra magnets just increases price, weight and wastes internal space.

can anyone actually link me to a source that says there will not be MagSafe? As far as I can tell, people are only getting this from a dummy unit, not exactly a reputable source.
Reliable sources, or at least somewhat reliable sources like Bloomberg, the information, even Kuo have said nothing about MagSafe in the folding iPhone. They haven’t said it will be there, they haven’t said it wouldn’t be there either.
So are we really taking this seriously? From one single dummy unit? That doesn’t really represent anything because MagSafe isn’t even externally visible?

The biggest feature of the 17e was MagSafe, the iPhone Air has MagSafe, the 5 MM thin iPad Pro is absolutely packed with magnets for the magic keyboard and smart accessories.
Until I hear otherwise, logic dictates that MagSafe will be there. It doesn’t need a cut out window to actually be there, again, the iPhone Air does not have one, and yet it has MagSafe.

MagSafe is not on the android fold 8 either. That may give us an indication.

Samsung has never cared about MagSafe. Their products come with Qi2 charging but requires a case for MagSafe.

The iPhone Fold will come with Magsafe. Apple releasing a $3,000 foldable that does not work in cars is ultra level disrespect.

At this point, [based on the rumors] the iPhone fold is DOA compared to the standard iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max.

iPhone fold will Probably be too thin for MagSafe magnets and internal charging.

I couldn't be more excited. I've been wanting this device since I saw the original Z Fold.

This is the most exciting iPhone (for me) since the original model.

I believe this will revolutionize the smartphone market, and there will never be an iPhone lineup moving forward that doesn't feature at least one foldable.

I'm curious to see it and how well it does, but the price will be the biggest deterrent to me unless trade-in values are robust.

While I'm happy to see Apple starting to look at niche products again, I'm quite ambivalent towards it. I'd rather get a Pro Max to be frank. For me it is a solution in search of a problem.
