Doubt I'm interested in doing this but I'm sure others will be. For those of us who are on the iPhone Upgrade Program, will it be possible for us to "upgrade" from the 6S/6S Plus to the iPhone SE when it's released on Thursday? I didn't see anything mentioned during the keynote and wasn't able to find anything via a quick Google search.

Wouldn't that be a downgrade ?

That's why I put "upgrade" in quotes.
[doublepost=1458585148][/doublepost]Interesting...directly from Apple's website:

Can I purchase iPhone SE with the iPhone Upgrade Program?

The iPhone Upgrade Program is available only when purchasing iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus.

My 6s has 128GB storage, 3D Touch, a bigger screen and a higher resolution. These features are lack on SE. Tho I still have the Verizon 5s for use as a spare phone and comparing to 6s I think it's too small for me to be used as the "daily" phone. So I use 5s with a cheap att plan with wifi at home, planning to port that number to FreedomPop which provides free monthly plans.

Looks like this thread was started twice. MODS, can you delete the other one as this has updated info. Thanks.

I was told by an Apple employee this Saturday gone that current models can't be "upgraded" for another current model. e.g iPhone 6S Plus can't be sent in towards a 6S, guessing the same for SE.

This quote comes directly from Apple's website(the place where you can "buy" the SE and under the FAQs:

The iPhone Upgrade Program is available only when purchasing iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus.

So, no. That "upgrade" is not possible.

:( I guess I can sell my 6S on craigslist and pay it off fully. I wish there was a more convenient option for swapping it out.

I will be selling my 6S Plus to Envirofone, they give more than the SE costs.

Strange move. I wonder why apple cares? They quoted financing for the SE, right? Would make sense to be able.to hop to whatever phone you want. You can't upgrade u til half the device I'd paid off anyway, unless I am mistaken.

I can see this affecting sales and discouraging Apple from making any more small phones...

They don't have that upgrade scenario on their web site, but they do have a trade-in value listed for the 6S/6S+. I bet if you walked in the door and talked to someone they'd make it work for you.

Like you, I don't know why anyone would do this, but it would be pretty cool to have a new iPhone with an EIP payment of like $4 lol!

As stated above, they have the following on their website:

"Can I purchase iPhone SE with the iPhone Upgrade Program?

Well, I am going smaller. I use a phone one-handed (old enough to have had the first cell phones out) so I type one handed and surprisingly, a smaller keyboard gives me better accuracy. (In fact, I would like an edge-to-edge screen on the iPhone 4 form factor). I have gone 6+ to 6S to SE (I went up the scale too).
In selling the 6S which I bought through the Apple upgrade program, I have to pay it off (duh). What came as a surprise to me, is that the Apple Care is forfeited. It is too late to buy it by itself as that window of opportunity is a very short period. That is a very clever strategy to keep Apple Care with the original buyer only. Just wanted to underscore that for anyone unaware.

Who in the world would trade a 6s for a se. The se has the same design of the iphone 5.
Me! I loved the design of the 5/5S and hated that I couldn't use my phone one handed. I see the 5/5S as a classic design and think 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it, just update it!'
