Sounds like a nightmare. I would rather just buy the phone outright. I'm also glad that I had mine delivered this year instead of picking it up in store like I did last year.

Or just delay doing the upgrade for a short while.

I returned to my store this afternoon and the massive queue had gone, took me about 20mins to be served and the Barclays process was done in seconds. I showed them my passport and bank card, told them my address and it whizzed through.
Out of intrest what store was this?

Yikes... hoping it sorts itself out before I show up (although highly doubt it). Spending hours there after a full day of work is not how I wanted to spend my Friday night. Might just but outright and do the program later

EDIT: Anyone have any intel on the London Stratford store? Last I saw around 1pm was a crowd, probably from the morning to late morning

My new iPhone7 requires me to upgrade my macbook to El Capitan for the latest version of iTunes. Id been resisting incase iPhoto gets removed, but time to give it a try...

Yep. I've had to bail too. Was in store for just under 4 hours.

They couldn't get the Upgrade Programme to work for anyone, and they told me that the majority of people in the queue with reservations were trying to get on the Upgrade Programme. This is an almighty mess.

The store is open till 8.

However, they told me if the order doesn't get processed today then I lose reservation for good unless I buy outright in store today. If I need to make another in store reservation then the next available date is now November.

To reiterate: this isn't a credit problem my end. And it's not Apple's fault. The problem is the incompetence of Barclays, and them seemingly being unaware that a lot of people would be buying a phone today.
oh wow, so its looking like anyone who reserves tomorrow morning will have to wait until november to get it?

I think he's saying that reservations are good only until the end of the day. So if you have a reservation for tomorrow, you have until the end of tomorrow to pick it up. That's how it worked in the US last year.

Shame it wasn't that simple at 0900 this morning.
I'd being queuing since just before 0800 and finally ended up paying for my matte black 256gb in full at 1155. Because which time the queue was the full length of the fire escape passage and out the fire exit door.

I got there about 10am, joined a small queue outside the store and then got told I'd pushed in and got moved to the fire escape queue. I then went home and returned about 2pm where there was only a short queue of about 10 people.

Well glad I got up at 6am today Apple - usual website performance (poor) and not a black Plus to be had anywhere. Thanks Apple!

Yep, what a totally bloody nightmare! I'm desperately trying to replace my crappy Android phones and come back to Apple, but stuff like this is making me not want to bother. I wanted a phone that was actually reliable and would work the way it's meant to most of the time, but this experience of reserving online doesn't impress me at all and leaves me a bad impression! :(

Set my alarm clock for 6:00am on a Saturday morning after a night out... Wish I hadn't bothered. No iPhone 7 Plus in Black anywhere near Newcastle, and Gateshead weren't taking reservations at all? What the hell is going on Apple? :(

Were you wearing a blue / checked shirt?
I was in the short queue at 10am, there were 2 young guys at back of me. I was 3 from the end of it, white shirt with glasses.
Talk about a small world.

Similar problems in the MetroCentre store yesterday. I decided to pay outright for now but had the added problem that Apple Pay didn't work properly. My notification was received that transaction was successful but the guy at Apple had to go to the back & go through all their records to see whether it had gone through. Their records said it hadn't so had to pay the old way.

While I was waiting, I chose a leather case but the guy asked the manager if he could give it free, so that was a bonus. Still waiting for credit card to correct itself as it's showing 2 pending payments of £699. I have Apple's transaction printout though if there's a dispute later.

Yes that was me. One of the Apple team told me to go in the short queue by mistake. The guy at the front of the long queue understandably wasn't happy and got me moved to the back of the long queue. If i see him again I'll let his tyres down :D

What time did you get there to be in the short queue?
