I'm looking at getting an iPhone 8 on the iPhone Upgrade Programme in the UK.

If I am upgrading every year, the cost is essentially the same as a new iPhone so my question is, why would anyone not do this. Surely there has to be some kind of catch?

The upgrade program does require AppleCare, it’s built into the fees.

The alternative Apple payment program doesn’t include AppleCare but doesn’t allow an upgrade after 11 months.

It actualy does. Rather, it's already included in the monthly plan.

my iphone x came without apple care but if you choose that then you will not be able to upgrade when new iphone comes out.. so yes you can get it without apple care
